My wife and I have been real Christians since 1975, moved a lot, and been active in many churches.
We we’re going to a Congregational church and when we told the pastor he told us that we would get over it, so we left that church.

My wife now has a Dr of Divinity degree from a “conservative” college, helps victims of domestic violence, published articles about DV, and just finished writing a book on DV.
I have been on the board of 3 churches (Deacon) and treasurer of 4, — one went thru a big building program, and one replaced a pastor that had been there for 30 years because he retired.

Some of the pastors were great and some were self centered dictatorial control freeks.
About 4 years ago, I had enough and stopped going to church until last Sunday.

We went to two services - one in the AM and the other in the PM at different Methodist churches. Note: 2 of the 6 churches my wife and I attended were Methodist .
The morning service was at a Methodist Church. It was good because the pastor focused on - in his words - one of the fundamentals of Christian belief that cannot be disputed- The Virgin Birth.
The evening service was at a United Methodist Church and it was — fluffy — there was no substance. It was all about feeling good, doing good, and feeling bad for the Palestinians. They even mentioned climate change and probably would have gone ballistic if they knew I was carrying concealed.

I was surprised at the difference and have begun to understand that some churches are falling away from the fundamental truths.
The Bible is correct in saying that even the elect will be deceived in the end times.

Get over what? Just asking for context.

I don’t understand your question. Please elaborate!

“We we’re going to a Congregational church and when we told the pastor he told us that we would get over it, so we left that church.”

What did you tell the pastor that he told you you would get over?

Being a Saved Christian… we expected the pastor to be happy about it, but it didn’t fit his social club church mentality.

What a strange response from him.

Over the years we have learned that some pastors are not into having to accept Christ‘s work as the only way to the Father (IMHO one of the Christian absolutes).

A experienced pastor that replaced a “born again” pastor in a Methodist Church we attended in OH told a men’s Sat morning prayer group that God has many ways for good people to get to heaven. A few guys didn’t state what they believed but just read passages from the Bible that said differently. The pastor got upset and the Sat morning prayer group at the church was terminated by him.

After that we met at different homes. He was invited but never showed up.
