Razors and shaving

My wife likes it when i shave so when she makes me mad i let it grow out.

I've had some sort of facial hair going on 5 years now. When i do shave it's a cheap electric one that doesn't get very close and will cut you if you look at it wrong.

Any thoughts on Dollar Shave Club? I’d like to stop using Harry’s too.
DSC was bought out by Unilever in 2016 and has fully embraced the far-left ideology. They're actually the brand I quit when I moved to safety razors. They wouldn't process the cancellation without me giving them a reason. I left two words -- one of them not suitable for the open forum -- and let them figure it out.

They've scrubbed their site of the numerous references that were up there, but there are still some artifacts. There used to be a lot more up there, and more virulent that the one I linked.

I used to wet shave. Got into it in high school because it helped reduce my acne. I had a small collection of American-made vintage and antique straight razors restored and refined by a gentleman in Idaho. My favorite was a 5/8” barber notch Torrey.

Anyways, I went to a military college, and some upperclassmen destroyed hundreds of dollars of razors when they found them during an inspection.

I used safety razors regularly until my surgery last year, because they were far less fragile than straight blades and provided almost the same results. Feather blades were indeed the best.

After the surgery, I bought a higher-end Braun and haven’t looked back. It is absolutely the best shave I have ever had. Close as the safety razor, with no burning or bumps. It’s orders of magnitude more convenient as well.

I wanted to try the Jeremy's product but I wasn't able to figure out how to do so without the subscription.

Subscribing to get razor blades is a 100% non starter for me. I understand why they're doing it.

Looking like the Korean supplier mentioned upthread by @Studentofthegun is going to get checked out.
Hoping to find a way to buy these besides Amazon.

Yeah, I have been using DSC for years and I'm not happy about sending my money to a company that doesn't like me. The problem is that four people in my house have DSC handles, and the upfront cost to switch is kind of high. I guess I will eventually, though.

I just stopped shaving in 2021, saved me a lot of money. Stopped cutting my hair too.considering buying a Harley too....
All excellent choices... highly recommend 👍 .... now on to the most important one ... Let us know when you pick up your bike 😁

I got a Van Der Hagen safety razor with boar bristle brush and shave soap kit at Ingles a year ago for about 25 bucks. I highly recommend it.

Christmas idea! TA-DAH!

Give the Dorco a try. They are like Harry's in that when they get dull, they don't hurt ya, just work a little less efficiently.
Gave the Dorco and the German shave soap a try today. The razor feels stiffer than the Harry’s, but better made. The soap does smell good, but is mild. It is also easy on the skin and doesn’t irritate or burn.

After shaving (head and most of face) I use witch hazle as an antiseptic, which usually stings a little. Today it did not.

I give these products two thumbs up.

Shaving???? What a bunch of girly men
Hey now, I sport a goatee, something most girls can’t do, and I embrace the bald head (have for the last decade). I just wish on the latter I had the cajones to do it years ago. It’s a very confident and masculine look.
