I do not know why but I was scanning other forums and ran across an article on Blue Dot powder. The article was about the difference between the powder when it was made by Hercules and now that it is made by Alliant. Back in the 70 and 80's I uses a lot of BD. When I got back into reloading about 9 or 10 years ago I bought what powder I used to use and then started trying powders that I have never heard of.
The article that I read was about how much stronger or PSI the powder used to be. I have loaded a few rounds (44 mag) over the past few years using BD and have noticed that it was hotter compared to 296, 800X, Unique and 4227. Last time at the range I did shoot some BD and what I knowest was the residue that was left in the case and gun. I might have a couple pounds left of BD and thinking that will be my last resort powder when all else fails. Or would you just shoot it to get rid of it?
