Anyone ever heard of resiniferatoxin, at 16 billion Scoville units? It could possibly cause death if eaten.

"Resiniferatoxin, a chemical produced by the cactus-like plant Euphorbia resinifera, is the hottest chemical currently known, 1,000 times hotter even than capsaicin. A pure extract of this stuff scores 16 billion Scoville units. Eating just a gram or two would cause serious internal burns, and possibly death."

I don’t get why people love to have hot sauce that hot. I like to actually taste my food without crying, trying to breathe or having my mouth on fire. I like some heat n all but I guess I am missing something 🤷‍♂️
That I’d never willingly touch. I have no interest in a Reaper, I do really enjoy ElYucateco XXX Habanero sauce on my food daily.

I like to have stuff similar to this on hand to add to sauces. It raises the temp without changing the flavor.

Currently I add 1 teaspoon of scorpion tobacco to our bbq eating sauce to make a hot version.

I’d be tempted to try this instead.

Edit to add, I put 1 tsp of Scorpion Tabasco into 1 gallon of our bbq sauce.

I coated some wings lightly with olive oil then covered in fresh reaper powder a few weeks ago. I smoked them and then used a little bit sweet sauce over them. They were still too hot. I could eat them, but a tad much for me. Next time I’ll use less reaper and a sweeter sauce over that. I like the heat, but at a certain point it can be too much. Some balance makes a much better wing.

at least 10 years ago it was already being used for killing nerves as an alternative to surgical resection and radio frequency- or cryo- -ablation.
Inject a little bit onto the nerve, nerve go byebye. used for things where a nerve is overactive and medication can't treat it well.

I had the same thought about seeing how to eat it.
I remember years ago i was at a tourist town and they had a hot sauce shop. special prizes if you were able to sample their super extra deadly hot sauce without throwing up and dying. I tested a few leading up to the hottest to wake my mouth up, then sampled the hottest one. clerk totally missed it. I had to do a bigger dip right in front of him and he was just like "oh. wow. you weren't kidding..."

don't get me wrong, it hurt. but it was bearable.
