I haven't reloaded in about a year and a half. I left my powder drum 3/4 full of gun powder. (Idiot) I was going to toss it but started thinking that it's been inside in a temp controlled environment, do I really need to dump it?

Safety police in me says dump it. Thoughts?

Load up a round and see if it goes bang.

I’ve heard people say they leave powder in the measure, but I don’t. But, are you absolutely, positively sure you know which powder is in there? If there is any chance it may not be the powder you think, toss it.

99% sure I know which powder. I have it written down somewhere in my load data. If I can't find it, I'll start over. (and dump it)

I typically dump my powder back in the jug for storage, I suspect I intended to come back to it and a year and a half past....

Do a test burn in your fire pit. Dump a few charges into a piece of paper, crumple it up and light it. Do that again with the same amount of known good powder. Compare. I expect no problems if the lid stayed on.

I usually put a plastic bag inbetween the lid and the body to seal if its left for a while. Not sure about that long but i would say if it is low humidity area it should be fine, as top says load it up and see, maybe chrono a few against new powder to see if it was effected.

But even if i was only 99% on the TYPE of powder, i would dump :(

A transparent powder container exposes the powder to UV rays so if there sunlight in the room I would spread the powder over the yard for fertilizer. Better safe than sorry.

I hadn't thought about UV. It is near a window. Maybe dump it is better safe than sorry. I have plenty of powder. It's a lee drum so it's clear but tinted red.

What I don't have plenty of is small pistol primers and 9mm bullets. Of course can we ever have enough?

After running the drum for a while to make sure it was dropping consistently after sitting for awhile, I loaded 10 rds, all went bang. So I loaded 200, and keeping them separate.
