Rebarrel a Kimber of O 82 22Hornet

It would be tough for me to ditch the 22 hornet…. But…. But…..17hornet is a bad little bullet! Similar trajectory as a 223. I have a model 25 in 17hornet and it’s ultra accurate.

That’s why I am considering another barrel, so I can return the rifle to stock configuration if I make any changes. Interesting story: the reason I own it. I bought it in 1986. Maine was reintroducing turkeys and planned on hunting seasons in the future once they were established. Twenty two centerfires were legal for this elsewhere. Rumors were that Kimber was in trouble so I bought this rifle. As it turned out the initial turkey effort with stock failed. Later they tried Pennsylvania/NY stock and turkeys took hold for good in southern Maine. But time had passed and Maine F&G decided that it would be shotgun only. I was then Varmint hunting with 22-250 so the Kimber languished. But it is sweet and nice to shoot. It has always had trouble with the original Remington ammo (sticking, fte) but the current Hornady stuff and my reloads do fine. Just thinking about the little 27 and the resulting zip.
