Recent NC transplant from CA

Greetings! I relocated from California (Los Angeles area) to Durham in July 2023. My wife was born in Durham and always wanted to move back to NC. I've been a gun owner since I was 15 and enjoy shooting pistols and carbines. I recently became interested in long distance precision shooting. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I use scopes and red dots to shoot long guns and pistols. I will be posting at least one rifle for sale in the coming weeks, a standard Springfield Armory M1A with a black synthetic stock; it's a great rifle but I rarely shoot it and I need to make room in my gun safe.

Congratulations on escaping California! Now...go out and buy some ammunition without having to go through an FFL. And pick up a few magazines with greater than 10 round capacities while you're at it.

And an AR-15 or two.

Hello and thank you! I actually brought three ARs with me from CA - one in 5.56, one in .300 Blackout, and an AR10. Of course, the CA versions had no pistol grips, no collapsible stocks, and no flash suppressors. I had plenty of pre-ban 30-round magazines and a class 3 FFL which allowed me to order ammunition over the internet. Mostly I'm looking forward to having more of a selection in firearms and accessories and more options for shooting. I recently took a precision rifle class from Pilot Mountain Arms and it was excellent.

I definitely appreciate anyone who quotes Ash from "Army of Darkness."

Welcome, and yes that laws in California are unfathomable to me in NC. I sold an allen precision 338 edge to a gentleman in CA and we had a lot of mess to go through. He must have really wanted it.

Thank you. I've been in NC for less than a year but I've enjoyed it so far. Can't say I enjoyed the summer, though. Hopefully I'll get used to the humidity. It's a very rare day in CA when there's any detectable humidity and I lived there for over 50 years.
