In a few short months, I will have the luxury of going to an FFL and purchasing a handgun. Recommend me two handguns within the budget of ~$1000-1200. One would be for CCW (ideally pocket carry), and the other for HD. šŸ˜

Sig 320 n 365. My 320 is bed side with 21rd mag, tlr1 hl, red dot is on the way for it. 365 xl pocket carry, 12rd mag with a 17rd backup mag

Ruger lcp max for the pocket carry.

As for the bigger gun just shoo for it. Get your hands on several and figure out what you like. Lotta good stuff out there.

Personally I really want an optic ready cz shadow 2 right now.

(2) Tisas 1911s in 45 ACP.
One standard 5" and one Commander length.

CZ P01/ PCR for both, a light and some ammo.

If you like ugly guns with crappy triggers you could also go Glock 19 instead of the CZ, but please donā€™t post pictures of your new gun. šŸ˜†

I change firearms occasionally. Right now I carry a J-frame in my pocket in a holster and have a CZ 75B close at hand in my bedroom. I carried a P365 for quite a while and still do occasionally. I have a 1911 in my dresser and my wife's Glock 19 in the closet in a holster attached to the wall. There are also a few long guns handy. You have lots of choices that are good.

Ok hear me out.

First. Unless you are significantly overweight or have some other weird restriction, absolutely do not go pocket carry.

A Glock 43x in a hybrid holster is the way to go for carry.

And do not buy a pistol for home defense. Buy a rifle with a large capacity and low recoil. An AR-15 for example.

You can buy both of these for under $1000 if you look around.

Significantly overweight, other weird restriction, or... Non Permissive Environment. Pocket carry can be great concealment for when you are not allowed to carry, or when the consequences for being outed are large.

Go to a range where you can rent or try guns. Hopefully wherever you go, there is a range officer that can help you PROPERLY try a few different guns and calibers to see what fits you best. Or go find someone local that is an experienced shooter with a decent selection you can try. Everybody can recommend what they like or think you might like, but only you can make that decision. After trying some various guns out,Then make your decision

Go to a range and rent some to shoot them first. A name brand gun, in a decent caliber, that you can operate and shoot well is the ticket.

For pocket the S&W Bodyguard .380 is small, light, but not terrible on recoil. The Sig P238 .380 is small, slightly heavier, manual safety, and wonderful to shoot for a small gun.

My 2 current bigger guns are a P365 X MACRO and a CZ 75b.

I agree. I didnā€™t spell it out but I was thinking about those when I said weird restriction.

Iā€™ve pocket carried when I felt I had to. But as an every day plan? Not so much.
