The grips on my S&W 622 were showing wear from all the shooting since I bought it in 1992. i always thought the color was too light anyway, so I bought a Birchwood-Casey Tru Oil refinishing kit for $20. It included some dark walnut stain, Tru-Oil, Stock Sheen Conditioner (which I didn't use), and assorted sand papers and tack cloths. It was a pretty easy project, and I think it turned out great. The hardest part is waiting 24 hours between coats of the Tru-Oil.
