While I'm waiting on parts to arrive for my wife's AR I decided to clean my truck gun. I've never been happy with it which is why it sits in the truck. Got most of the 4 years worth of dirt off of it and have decided to completely strip it down and try to refinish it. Thinkin about maybe glass bead cleaning or maybe some fine sand paper. Also gonna try my hand at stippleing it. Then if it all turns out I will look at why it stovepipe after 20 or so rounds.

Thoughts, advice, or you just wanna see how bad I will screw this up 🤣20210725_104828.jpg20210725_104833.jpg20210725_104847.jpg

Got the frame all disassembled 20210725_120034.jpg20210725_120100.jpg

Just ordered these grips. Hopefully they will feel betterScreenshot_20210725-142136_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20210725-142130_Chrome.jpg

I like those grips
They arrived yesterday gonna try to get them installed tomorrow. Maybe fill the slide etching with some paint. Still debating on a trigger job

Powder River Precision trigger on my 7-8 year old 5.25” XD(m) made a HUGE improvement. The 4.5” OSP model I got a few months ago doesn’t need a trigger job.

Did you get the competition trigger or just the springs?

I had those grips. Lasted for 3 or 4 3-gun seasons.
We're they difficult to remove, did you replace them with something else?

Filling in the etching is coming along nicely 20210801_083033.jpg

And the slide is done. Thinkin about adding dome color to the grips on the slide too20210801_092629.jpg

After several years, They eventually just wore off enough that I took them off. I used Goo Gone on the residue. I thought were a great addition.

20210801_133933.jpg20210801_133942.jpg20210801_133949.jpglooks and feels pretty good. Expected the laser cutting to have a better fit, but it ain't to bad.

Now to start the frame assembly 🤬

Wow is the magazine release spring aggravating 20210801_143837.jpg

Well the mag release spring has nothing on the sear assembly 🤬

Well the 10th round did this20210801_164013.jpg20210801_164040.jpghelp, how do I fix this issue, what could.be causing this?

Could the ridge on the feed ramp be causing this?20210801_164852.jpg

Pretty good variation on the old rounds20210807_104637.jpg
Versus the new I just bought

Just went 39 rapid fires with 39 perfect cycles. Pretty sure I got some bad loads. Also pretty sure I bought them when I bought the pistol. They were gun store reloads in a bag of 500. Lesson learned. Now to break apart the bad loads and load them right with I'm thinkin W231 or A No5.

For those that are curious 3.5 grains powder ain't good for nothing. This was the first one I pulled apart 20210810_172259.jpg20210810_172255.jpg
