Now that the chorus and I are in rehearsals, I've discovered I need to carry the smaller gun for those times, since warm-up includes all kinds of twisting and turning and stretching. Who'd have guessed the Kel Tec would be the perfect/perfectly hidden rehearsal gun? Lol.

I find a Bodyguard 380 works well for me in ā€œthat typeā€ of roll. I am considering a kel tec p-11 to up my carry to 9mm in ā€œdeep conealmentā€

I wanted to go to 9mm, but couldn't find one that worked for me. Then someone said .380 is like 9mm anyway, so I'm good! lol. The Sig is just a little bulky for yoga, I find.

I am half on the market for an LCPII or a CW380...I just cant bring myself/find the time to actively look for one. I too have to "dress up" for Church every week and since I lost some weight the ol'P07 pokes out a bit more than it used to.

And "packing" happens every day, no matter what I'm doing.
By God I love you!!!! Live it Millie. Promise me you will stick with this attitude No Matter What!!! I would be a happy ole man If I could get All of my regulars to live the way you are. Amazing how you have come around! Invite here is still open. Now more than ever.

One last ditch option is the NAA 22 convertible with 22mag. Beats a stick.

That is an option I use quite often sir...ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦..for the very reason you stated. (and thank you for the avatar change to honor the slain trooper.)

A NC trooper told me once.during a license check to carry every where you go.

As for the trooper. During high school I played in the band. On graduation night 1979 in Rutherford Co. James Hutchins shot and killed to Sheriffs deputies and a Highway Patrolman. My mom was beside herself until us kids were home. Some 6 years later Hutchins was put to death for his deeds. There is one thing. You kill a trooper and you will die. Might not be that day but one day the state of North Carolina will see to it.

I have several pistols or firearms that serve that purpose.

I have carried 2 North American Arms 22 Magnums since a NY reload is faster than actually reloading these. It is extremely discrete, and you may not realize that itā€™s on you.

I have a Sig P238 which is compact, accurate enough out to 25 yards and fits in a Talon wallet holster.

A Kimber K6S 6 Shot 357 Magnum is the heaviest pocket gun I carry.

The Sig P365 is a decent 9 mm gun with a microcompact size and a respectable round count. I do feel the velocities coming from such a short barrel also make it fairly close to a 380 in ballistics.

As a side note, I acquired a Walther PPK S, and it is quite massive compared to the modern day subcompact and micro carry firearms. It is not something I would do for SD as its size is overshadowed by my Sig P238 and capacity eclipsed by the Sig P365. However, it is a fun pistol to shoot with minimal recoil, even with +P ammunition. 15 yards seems to be its most realistic maximum distance in double action.

I had a couple LCPs because they disappeared in a pocket but I never warmed up to them and their terrible trigger. The LCPII fixes that and in turn is way more accurate for me than I feel like it should be. Add an extra mag and I feel pretty good with 13 rounds on me.

PSA had the LCPII on sale for around $220 a week or so ago and I missed out. Ill eventually get around to getting one. The consensus is that it is one of the top options for pocket carry.

Why thanks, and I'll try to make it out there one of these days!
My packing remark sounded tough, but later that night I was racking the slide on my rehearsal gun (the Kel Tec), since I hadn't used it in awhile, to be sure I remembered how much pulling it took....and the little sucker bit me. Now I have a bruise on my finger and the Sig is back in my waistband! It was my favorite, anyway! Lol.
So I'll just have to be careful in moving around in the warm-up, but I'm not going to stop carrying my gun! It goes where I go, because there are some crazy idiots out there, as we all read about every single day.

Don't get too excited. He just realizes I've begun to get my you-know-what together after a bumpy start with guns in general and my carry method in particular!! I've fully embraced the idea that I'm going to carry my gun all the time...and it seems to make him very happy! Lol.
If he ever sees me shoot, he might not be so happy, but I'll work on it.....

All my regular carry guns are 45s - except for one, the S&W CS9. It serves the purpose illustrated by Millie, a gun for when I cant have a gun.....or perhaps I should say a gun for when I cant conceal a gun.

Even my two smallest, lightest 45s are still what many would consider "big guns". The CS45 and 4513TSW are more difficult to conceal in hot weather and under a T-shirt. An excellent IWB holster helps and facilitates hiding them under a T-shirt.

But nothing is as easy to carry and hide as the little CS9. Good on you Millie! :) Regards 18DAI

I am going to get laugh at again but do not rule out the SCCY 2 (or Walther PPS). It is a little bigger than the Ruger and KelTec but I think it might be lighter and easier to shoot. Plus it holds 10+1. If you look around you can find them around $200.
I had a bunch of small frame 9s and SCCY and Walther PPS were the only 2 that I could shoot well and not kill my hand.

I'll try to get my hands on one to shoot and see how it goes. But I'm pretty happy with my p238 right now, and it shoots well for me. Heavier has actually been good for me, since the lighter guns seem to try to hurt my hand. (In more ways than one.) Lol. Having more rounds available would be really nice, but I'll have to try one out. I hope I won't have to find out if I have too few rounds. In all the guns I shot, I don't think that was among them. I'll ask at my semi-local range if they have one to rent.
(Making another list of guns to try out!)

I bought a SCCY and there's a thread about it on here somewhere. We ran it dry, right out of the box, and it ran around 200 rounds before the slide wouldn't go all the way home. Just a little touch from the thumb and it would work. Squirted some oil on the rails and it took off running perfectly again.

Took it home and gave it a good cleaning and oiling. I ran a bunch more rounds through it without a problem. @BatteryOaksBilly ended up with it and ran a bunch of rounds through it, too. From my experience, I wouldn't hesitate to suggest a SCCY to someone.

Oh, I remember all right!

Maybe I'll be able to make the same get together. If so, I'll be sure to bring a box of chocolates for the two of you!

:D

I wish!! Do not bring chocolate anywhere near me, I'm having enough trouble on my diet as it is.....you guys will have to eat the chocolate! But it's a nice thought...lol.

OK...beef jerky it is, then! Only 70 calories per ounce for the beef jerky I'm currently munching on!

I wish I had that much faith in our judical system.

Millie,

My workout/running gun is a Smith 442 Airweight Centennial .38 SPL revolver. I wear my old Bianchi belly band under my workout clothes. It holds my Smith, speed strip and my CHP/ID. This of course when I'm home, here in Afghanistan I keep my G17 in a old Bianchi Ranger Fanny pack for workouts. Don't have to worry about concealment here, just need to HAVE it all the time. Wishing you the best in your endeavors.

I need to work out! Lol. But actually the "yoga" I was referring to in the post is stretching before we start singing....but it went ok and nobody saw the gun.
The closest thing to a workout I'm going to get any time soon is when I finally put my stepper together and actually use it. I'd like to take up running again, but I'm too fat right now and would probably hurt myself!
What are you doing over "there"? I hope you get to come home soon, and thanks for whatever it is you're doing there.

I'm retired Army working as a contractor now. I fix guns and instruct in their use, specifically Miniguns, Recoilless Rifles, Glocks, FN SCAR rifles and special ARs for Special Forces here. Just got back from medical leave and next leave will be a year from now. 4th year doing this in Iraq, Astan and Kuwait.

Holy cow! You people must have POWERFUL singing voices if you have to stretch before singing!

Some do, it's incredible! (Mine is getting there.) I guess the conductor just wants us nice and loose before we start to rehearse. It's pretty physically demanding music we're doing.

I feel so much better now, I thought I was the only throwback geek sporting a fanny pack in this decade, however you have the isolation of being in a foreign country basically a world away, hard to beat 7 shots of .357 in an ultralight package
