We made it back to the hotel after getting ditched by an uber driver..dude didnt wanna wait in line.
Parking lot was packed full. It was crazy.
Overall, an interesting trip, but I think once was enough.
Guess were hitting pinkys, since its close to the hotel.

If anyone is looking to hit the fair, its not terrible. Its a once n done I'd say, unless you are into cosplay, somewhat trashy ppl, amd expensive made in china shit..do what I did. Beer it up, and make sure wife is good to go. Lol. You can people watch anywhere though, for cheaper.

Picked one of our fellow members up today so he didn't have to go with the wife and daughter. Did our thing and hung out at my house till close. Dropped him off to meet back up with the family, wow. Boobs everywhere leaving.

Was there quit a few years ago when the kids were young. They had this huge rocking horse my kids wanted to ride so off they climbed and the wench followed them up and sat at the doorway. As I am watching this I guess her corset was a little too tight because out popped a boob. And she did not notice for a while.

I'm glad the ren fair does not cause traffic issues. I live 3 miles away and walked out yesterday morning and traffic was backed up past my house. We went to a wedding mid afternoon and the gps said going past the ren fair to I77 was an extra 38 minutes. We took the back roads. Only a couple more weekends and its over.

Yesterday morning was particularly bad. Google maps said it was 1hr 5min to get from my house to the Harris Teeter across the street from Ren Fest. Its 2mi!
@beamernc apparently the news caught wind of the traffic fiasco. I think the Ren Fest rep’s excuse of people’s GPS giving them poor directions is pretty weak. He should’ve pointed out the massive growth in the area and zero road improvements.

Years ago when the ren festival started, when it came to town, the number of home break ins in the area went up drastically. That info came from the sheriff's department. Not sure if they still see an uptick in break ins or not.

Ours routed us by metrolina greenhouse. But tried to take us in the service entrance. Then through a sub division under construction.
That area has grown so much nothing looks the same to me. And I delivered in that area for several years. Might as well have been my first time there.

Went with the kids via fieldtrips a couple of times, they had a blast. The bird show (owls, hawks, etc) flying over the kids heads were a hit. My kid like the jousting. I think I spent $30 on a 'family crest' printed on a HP Deskjet. Otherwise yeah, no way I would brave that kind of insane traffic for a freak fair. I can see tiddies at home or at a gentleman's establishment for wayyyy less time and money
We went Saturday, got there at 8:30 am to park, parked up front. Left at 2pm and took maybe 10 mins to get off of Poplar Tent.
We go every year. The Falconry Show is still the best. The birds almost touch the crowd flying over. And the Falcon they fly at the end is so cool to see using the leather decoy.
Also, it’s wise to eat early when you get there. We ate at 10:30am and then snacked around while walking.
My daughter made it to the top of the tower.
The area around it had blown up over the past 2 years, where it was just a few houses here and there, now it’s packed it like anything else. I guess now it comes down to the owners of the land if they see it as worthwhile to stay or sell it to make another cookie cutter neighborhood.

Nearby residents met with Ren Fest rep, police, and DOT last night. Word is they’re going to park 50 cars on the street in protest this weekend.
