I've seen personalities like this before. Don't ever give them decision making responsibilities, because they can't make one..right or wrong. They're totally conflicted within themselves and the result is no results combined with a sense of righteous indignation.
I watched “Death of Stalin” on Netflix the other night. It shows this perfectly.

I have a feeling this will wind up being Ole Roys tranny in the ladies room. Folks wont forget this come November.

I am a bit surprised the ACLU hasn't spoken up yet.

Or.... everyone armed with lever actions. Let the media try to figure that one out.

AR = "Assault Rifle" = "military application" = bad for civilians = ban
Lever Action = "Wild West Weapon" = "military application" = bad for civilians = ban

Oh, they'll "figure it out" all right.

I’m far more scared of a redneck that’s been whacking a few dozen deer per year since he as 6 with a 30-30 lever action than I am pretty much anyone with an AR (myself included). While we try to find em in the woods they’ve dinked 10 of your friends.

This thread shows just how much mindless thinking is going in the world and if this continues our world will go down the drain so many predict. This virus has proved it can kill any person on this earth if not contained. Plenty of mistakes have been made and more will happen in our future but the only sure way out is to work together, individual freedom be damned. If we pay attention, listen to those that know science and work together we just may survive as a people. Call myself brainwashed if you wish but now is the time to put the government of the people to test, hope and pray their methods work until the day the cure is found. Appartantly that can't be soon enough, during the meanwhile patience you bunch of damn grasshoppers.
Hmmmm let me check  still in the open forum, nope nope nope not gonna do it!

Nothing is more permanent than a temporary government program.

Bureaucracies, especially government ones, are not like old generals: they do not "fade away," - they grow and grow until they burst, dying - often violently - under their own weight (just not before killing the thing on which it fed).

Well, darnit, I haven't been whacking deer since age 6, but I did just take possession of a lever-action rifle today! Is that like sleeping in a Holiday Inn Express? :D

No.

Liberty of the individual citizen is the foundation of the Republic. It is what separates us from everyone else. It's who we are. It should always be treated with reverence and never should anyone consider giving it up for ANY reason...safety, security, viruses..you name it. Why?

After it has been willingly relinquished, it's gone. You MIGHT get it back, but is sure as hell ain't gonna be because it was handed back to you on a silver plate by those to whom you ceded it.

You wanna give yours up in the name of safety, fine. Like the song says, "You go your way and I'll go mine", but I will be damned if I'll knowingly and willingly hand my liberty over to anyone for any reason.

"individual freedom be damned"

I still cannot believe I read those words on here. It has to be one of the biggest "WTF?!" moments I've ever experienced since being a member.

This virus has proved it can kill any person on this earth if not contained.

Tyranny has killed a hell of a lot more folks on this earth than this virus ever will.

I'm starting to see folks driving around in their cars with masks hanging from their rear-view mirrors. Are they putting them on when they get out of the car, and taking them off and hanging them on the mirror when they get back? Using the same possibly contaminated mask over and over, yeah, that does a lot of good.
Haha. Those would be the same people wearing gloves while driving, after the went shopping, exchanged money, etc...

1. "This thread shows just how much mindless thinking is going in the world and if this continues our world will go down the drain so many predict." : Then you are reading challenged, this thread, and many like it, have shown a wide array of different thoughts on the best way to handle the situation. Most lean towards a cautious opening, some lean to a total return to 100% how things were with no delay. But there is no complete consensus. Just many people >thinking< and sharing their ideas in an open forum.

2. "This virus has proved it can kill any person on this earth if not contained." : This virus has proven to be easily spread, and dangerous for immunocompromised individuals of either young age or advanced age. For most others it can be a serious sickness, but far from nearly the 100% fatal along any clear population lines. And, no matter what people do, no virus is contained. It can be slowed, it can even be monitored. But no virus in the history of mankind has ever been "contained". Run its course? Immunities developed? Yes.

3. "Plenty of mistakes have been made and more will happen in our future but the only sure way out is to work together,..." : The most accurate part of your post....which isn't saying much. Mistakes have been made. And some have not. Working together, generally speaking, is fluff and never considered a bad idea in any circumstances unless discussing a home enema kit.

4. " individual freedom be damned": The entire basis for the United States was predicated upon individual freedoms and setting up a government specifically to guaranty individual freedoms. There was no caveat put into place that would override "individual freedoms". On the contrary, now is the perfect time for our government to prove that it adheres to its original charter in guaranteeing individual freedoms despite outside pressures. My desired assumption is that you were drunk, or high on hand sanitizer fumes when you tippy tapped this little gem out on your keyboard.

5. "If we pay attention": A large number of threads on this site recently have specifically been started in attempts to both spread news, updates, and thoughts and opinions from experts and scientists alike. This can only lead one to believe that you have either missed this, or willfully ignored the fact that we are "paying attention", possibly more than most people in the general public who receives their news from one specific source.

6. "listen to those that know science and work together we just may survive as a people": The science that told us Pluto was a planet up until a few years ago? The science that cant figure out if male and female are true genders? The scientists who cant even finally decide if milk and eggs is good or bad for us? And survive as a people? What is even the point of surviving if we turn into something that our entire being as Americans cant recognize? When we forgo all we are based on what is happening in the now, then I see no reason to survive at all.

7. "Call myself brainwashed if you wish": Gladly. You are brainwashed.

8. "but now is the time to put the government of the people to test" : Agreed...to stay true to their original charter and design to ensure the individual freedoms of a free people from a tyrannical government.

9. " hope and pray.": Hope and pray, that's good. I agree we should be doing this.

10. "their methods work" : Because they have done so splendidly so far? Social distancing may well have helped. Self quarantining may be a great thing. But ordering people in their homes is tyranny. It is placing an innocent population on house arrest while their only crime being existing.

11. "until the day the cure is found." : This is a virus...there will be no magical cure. There will be treatments that reduce its strength. But there is no magic bullet that will make it go poof and vanish. Nor should a free people be required to lock themselves away waiting for a distant future date where our freedom to move and assemble rests on the shoulders of those who may not be facing the same hardships as many. My family is fine...both my wife and I are still working. We have food, supplies, money. But many don't. And they cant wait around for some magical distant date where those deem it "safe" allow them to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.

12. "Appartantly that can't be soon enough": No, it cant be.

13. "during the meanwhile patience you bunch of damn grasshoppers": Solid moronic ending that proves you know nothing yet about the population of this community. The "grasshoppers" were the ones that didn't prepare, relied on others to help them along, and when faced with hardship cried out to others due to their lack of preparation. If anything, this forum is filled with ants who have, over the years, prepared for hardships. If you had actually paid attention to this forum before posting this mistake of a diatribe, you would realize that the "grasshoppers" are individuals like you who hunker in their holes and cry out for the government to come to their rescue like some weak video game princess who cant lift a finger in her own care.

Hopefully, you will learn, in time, that those of us here often argue, we often even fight. But what we aren't is a massive group of "grasshoppers" who are resisting the government out of some perceived fear. The grievances listed out here, even those I disagree with personally, are real, actual, and tyrannical. A police agency openly violating the 1st amendment >should< be something that any American finds not only wrong, but unjust, and should be confronted bluntly and decisively.

Surpringly we all have exacting numbers of the flu but there are no known numbers of those infected by 19 yet we keep making life decisions with little to no information. My opinion is stay/practice safe until there is enough tested to quantity a change in social behavior.

This was from another Kung Flu thread. You've really changed your stance in a week.

Leads me to believe it was an epic troll. On one hand im cool with because I got to write out my thoughts. And on the other I applaud the precision to which it struck a chord.

Lol, Absolutely perfect response

FWIW, heard this listening to Rush over lunch.

Number of US COVID-19 hospitalizations this year - 62,000
Number of US flu related hospitalizations last year - 492,000
Number of US flu related hospitalizations 2018 - 800,000

Time to open this country back up (if it should ever been closed in the first place).

I ain't no kinda big time shooter or operator & never have been, but the one time I shot "cowboy division" at a rimfire 2 gun match, I could turn in faster strings with my 39A than many with semi autos.

Quick/tactical reloads aren't gonna happen, but a good lever gunner can lay some fire down in a hurry.

Absolutely. During the American revolution the most effective weapon we had was a fighting spirit and a massive group of self sufficient people who were used to hunting their own food, living off the land, and precision shooting for their dinner. A strict adherence to some military code of conduct in order of battle never served the US all that well during pitched battles. It was country boys picking off a few here and there and vanishing that frustrated the Brits the most. Us dastardly villians who didn't fight like good Europeans.

Fast forward to today, the tactical timmies and the like are all good and fine...but we still have a massive amount of hunters who know their land, know how to hit a small target out to hundreds of yards silently, and how to completely blend into their environment. They are surrounded by friends and family that both support them, and encourage them. So...while I think we are WAY away from any form of real armed insurgency, I know I had much rather be a man in a stack busting into a Tactical Timmy's front door than I would be told to head out to Bubbas farm to serve a Red Flag warrant and take away his shotgun and deer rifle. With Timmy, I may have a chance...with Bubba I may be shot before I turn off the paved road.

Holy mother of closet democrats.

Where did this one come from?

Watching Coopers press conference just now, this dumb ass actually said that you can protest but only in compliance with his executive order. What is that now, 5 people or less....in the name of public safety
