Fired off 60 rounds shooting clays in the back yard. GoodWife throwing so, never knew if I was getting a running rabbit or a screaming dove, but they shoot fantastic!

We were working informally, 15 to 20 yards seems to be the sweet spot. The gun was a CZ Hammer Coach, Modified and Improved Modified, the CZs are all over bore so the chokes will tighten up patterns a bit more than a smaller diameter barrel.

There is no wadding (surrounding the shot), so expect some lead streaking in the bores and attendant cleaning. Wads are plastic, with a figure 8 compression bit.

I found my lead with these to be like shooting a .410, butt, bird, beak, boom. About half the lead of the 20g 7/8 oz #8 2.5 dram we also shoot.

They break clays nicely if you do your part. Won't smoke them like a long shell 12g or 20g but a good aim will shatter the bird nicely. If your hit is poor, you can actually punch holes in the clay and not know it till you go to pick up the unbroken birds.

Overall shooting was clean in the bore, but for the bit of lead streaking (mostly at the removable chokes) and plastic fouling in the breech. I can't completely fault the shells for the plastic fouling as the CZ Hammer Classics have a very short and steep lead between chamber and bore.

In the heavy CZ, the kick is like or less than a .410 and noticeably less noise than even the 20g target loads. Barrels take a bit longer to get hot as well.

Over all, I highly recommend for practicing your swing, pull and follow through. Come fall, we'll have to try them out on quail. In the meantime, I think I'll put in a cylinder choke and a full, just to see what happens....

They are still in stock at the link above, as of this post date.

How much did they pay you?

I'd like to know I did my fellow CFFer a solid via commission! :)

Nice review...............and it doesn't hurt that a nice sxs, hammer coach is on my VERY short list of must haves! Thanks for sharing!

Canadian mini slugs are definitely fun to shoot and I’ve never had an ammo related issue. Now if I could just get my ksg to cycle them in both tubes instead of just 1 that would be fantastic
