RIP Buddy the cat (Jan. 2004-Jan. 2020)

People who don't have pets don't realize how much they become part of our families. Losing a furry pal is really hard. The hole left by Buddy leaving will probably best be healed by letting another Buddy in.

Sorry for your loss Millie. :(

I just realized, 16yrs? Wow.

My Mom’s cat passed last weekend after 20 years. Abigail was her last pet. Any time you lose a friend you have spent every day with for 20 years or 10 years is tough.

My neighbor had two cats pass a week apart, 16 years old, they were kittens she took in from the feral cat in her yard.

My parents just went through this on Wednesday. Their not so little buddy of 16 years developed congestive heart failure due to age and started shutting down. They tried treating him, but it just seemed to make him more miserable so they did what they had to do. In a message I received this morning, they're lamenting the loss and realizing how much they miss his being around and especially being a bathroom buddy (what is it with cats and going to the john anyway?) The absence really is tough.

We lost one a couple of years ago and recently took in a kitten. I fed her in the same place we would feed the one we lost. I looked down and somehow had the sense that all was right in the world watching a yellow cat eat in that spot again. There were times, even a year after his passing, that I would go to feed our other cat and without thinking about it get two plates.

Same here, didn't want to make him go thru a lot of stuff. Tell them I'm sorry for their loss.

Buddy followed me everywhere! I called him my puppy-cat! lol.
The absence is awful, but I hope it will ease up. 16 years is a long time to have a friend there every day.

Our kitten, Freja, has a fascination, actually you could call it an obsession, with sinks and drains. It started with the bathroom sink and she would run in there, jump up on the toilet and then on the counter. Wound up IN the toilet a few times. Had to be careful because when we took her in she was small enough to go down if you flushed it.

She recently discovered the kitchen sink and is just big enough to jump up there. It's really hard to do the damned dishes when the cat won't get out of the sink and isn't afraid of, if not outright likes, water. Have the same problem with the laundry room sink.

Buddy loved to walk in the tub after we had taken a shower. What a funny guy!
He also used to sleep in the old bathroom sink, the one that was some kind of acrylic. It was a perfect fit. Once I got a new vanity, he quit doing that. I think the porcelain was too cold for him.

Sorry for your loss of your Old Buddy. It seems he was well loved and knew it too! Perhaps, one day, sooner than you might imagine, a new buddy will come your way and find a comfy spot in your heart.
