If you grew up like I did Saturday was wrasslin day
From my dad to my uncles they believed it was real till many years later.
Many Saturdays were spent watching the Minnesota Wrecking Crew Ole & Gene Anderson. The team you loved to hate.
Watching these guys was great afternoon of escapism for a kid
News of his passing brought back memories fof setting on the floor watching a black and white TV with my dad, who's been gone for a while now,but the memories remain
Thanks for the memories Mr Anderson

Ole, Rick Flair, Tully Blanchard, arn Anderson were the original four
Yessir. Some of my most fond memories as a kid were watching wrasslin' with Grandma and Grandpa.

My hero's were The Rock 'n Roll Express and the double drop kick!

Magnum TA
Ricky The Dragon Steamboat
Jimmy Valiant
Hands of Stone Ronnie Garvin
The Midnight Express with Jim Cornett
Ivan and Nakita Kolov

Thanks for the trip down memory lane @S4f !

Feel free to add others I missed

All I remember is Ric Flair used to hit on my girlfriend who taught his daughter in elementary school in the late ‘70s.

I figured somebody was gonna get their a$$ whopped, and it probably wasn’t going to be his.

I haven't watched wrestling in years just cause it ain't the show it used to be back in the day. But some great memories spent in coliseums and in front of TV watching when I was a kid.
Same here.
I grew up on the nwa and later Georgia championship wrestling when we finally got cable in the late 70's, the slick production of wwf and later WWE was something my dad didn't enjoy , I got married and started my on life.
But the obituary for ole brought back a lot of memories that will soon be lost to time. For all the great memories ole brought me as a kid I thought he deserved a mention Here along with these guys
The flying Scott's, George and Sandy, Johnny Weaver, salior art Thomas, Paul Jones, the great Wahoo McDaniels and many more

RIP Ole.

I hated that guy ( actually the character he portrayed ) but he was one reason I tuned in every week.

Went to a cage match at the old Charlotte Coliseum with my FIL, packed house, Ric Flair was in the feature match. After seeing it live we both then knew that the whole thing was more "entertainment" that wrestling.

Ran into Ronnie Garvin at Hechinger's one day, I was surprised at how not large he was. But I didn't even think about calling him names.

Dang bruh, memories....
Big Dave Forrester (a scheduled loser and got paid to be beat by everyone) lived one house down from my aunt. He literally had a wrestling rink in his back yard. As kids, we used to go over and pretend to be wrasslers. 😂 My last name is McDaniel so you can guess who "I was". 😬
also, Sgt Slaughter used to frequent the bar that my dad went to. Anytime I would see him I would reflect on all the theatrics and matches. He didn't age well and last time I saw him, he had a hard time walking, or standing for that matter.

Also Brut Bernard

My wife and her mother sold Avon to Nikita Koloff's wife. They also lived beside Rick flair when they first got married. Great entertainment for us to bond with our fathers. Rip Ole

On Park Road? My best friend at the time in 8th grade lived a couple of doors down. And Ralph Moody of Holman Moody was a couple of hundred yards up the road just off Park Road.

Not sure. It was when they first got married around 74-75 and it was an apartment complex. They said the cops were there multiple times for domestics.

Back in the late 1970's there was an adult establishment called Clay's Lounge in Charlotte, right next door to the original Paper Doll Lounge location.

I vividly remember one night, Wahoo McDaniel, Paul Jones and Blackjack Mulligan were there and they were having a large time. Before I left I saw them dancing with each other. I believe alcohol was involved.

Rest In Peace Ole. Like many here, my Saturdays were either in from to the TV or at the coliseum cheering on my favorites and yelling at the ones we hated.

Apologies in advance to my granny in heaven, you never used the word fake around her unless you wanted to be scraping with little old Native American. God I miss her and how wound up she would get🤣🤣🤣 watching wrestling. While it was scripted, many times them old boys took some hard licks when someone’s timing was a little off.

I officially doubt the loyalty of every one of you that spelled Flair’s first name Rick. 😝
Technically I should have said “Slick”. When I was a kid my parents owned a 24 / 7 Shell station off I-26 in Henderson county. In those days Ric drove himself. Beautiful black Cadillac, he’d stop by fill up, use the latrine and on to the next stop. Always by himself.
