So, I did a thing this morning........

It came with a cheapy red dot on a riser, and two mags, one RRA 32 round, and a modified Uzi 25 round.

I replaced the red dot with a carry handle, and will be changing a few other things before long.

Anyway, I have finally arrived at the Pistol Caliber Carbine stop on this train........

Brownells branded mags are metalform. You can get 3 for like $75 shipped or less when they are on sale. Add your optic and run that thing! It'll also be surprisingly quiet with 147s when suppressed.
 
Since I like my ARs Old School, I'll be switching out the RRA upper with a Colt SMG A1 upper.
Ought to be a looker once I've got it completed.
 
Yeah, I paid too much, but I couldn't live without it.

Also switched out the Hogue overmolded pistol grip with a NOS A1 grip, as well as replaced the commercial buffer tube with a Mil-spec one.
 
Upper arrived yesterday.........

My usual LGS/hang out was closed today due to the Winter weather, so I gave the barrel nut a few treatments to a butane torch as it sits on the RRA upper and used some penetrating oil between treatments.

The Colt SMG upper was a surprise in itself, it is TIGHT on the RRA lower, I mean ABSOLUTELY no play between the upper and lower.

Got a feeling this thing is gonna be a tack driver....
 
@USMC6094 When I saw this it reminded me that I have one of these in the safe,nib...I have never shot it.Bought it over 15 years ago I want to change out the upper to a flat top and remove that A2 front sight and add a nice red dot.Guess I need to get busy and finish it .I forgot I had it because I bought a Ruger PC carbine Thank you for posting this

If you want it, once I change out my uppers, I'll send you my RRA flat top upper. All you got to do say yes......
 
And the saga continues............

More than a week ago I ordered a complete retro style CAR stock assembly from Tony's Customs. Since the day I ordered, my order status has been "ON HOLD".

So after three "contact us" messages, two phone calls ( with no answer to either and no voicemail ) and an email. I sent another email canceling my on hold order.

So I did a little searching on GB. And I found better than I could've expected, and from a seller here in North Carolina.

Stock arrived this PM.

Swapped the two position retro buffer tube for a six position M4 tube.

Now to get the castle nut torqued and staked.....

Gunmagwarehouse has metalforms for $26 right now. I've bought a bunch from them in the past. JRhorn is right on the brownells too. Stick with metalforms over the cheapos.

Also pickup the colt smg magulula its worth every single penny for reloading those sticks.
 
Nut is torqued and staked.

Got eight more magazines inbound, 4 32 rounders, and 4 20 rounders.

Picked up the Maglula with the first purchase of new magazines.

I found them for less than 20 bucks from a few places I shop regularly, the Metalform ones I mean....

Finally got to the CCLER this afternoon for a function check.
Twenty rounds with three different loads and not a single issue. Inspection of the fired cases revealed no over pressure signs.
So next trip will be for a good solid zero.

Well, the next trip happened this a.m. and I have hit a brick wall........

At 50 yards front sight elevation is dead on. BUT, on windage, I got BUPKISS, I wound up going ALL the way right windage and still couldn't get the windage zeroed.

So, looks like I'll be buying a tool I don't have, but now have reason to get, the only fix I know of is squaring the face of the upper receivers barrel nut threads.

So, its back to piece parts and fitting......
