Rossi barrel band question

I'd like to add a sling to my rossi 357 92. From what ive read, the magazine tube clamps don't work that well, and the forend is too thin and soft to screw into. The larger models have the front sling swivel mount attached to the barrel band.
I'm assuming you'd mark it, take it off, clamp it secure, drill and tap it?

I have a leather slip over and tie type. Can't remember where I got it. But I use it for cowboy action for the last 5 years no issues

D&T the bbl band would be the easiest and a QD sling swivel screwed into the buttstock. This is what I did on my faux ‘73 Spanish Contract Carbine. The lower swivel is a military swivel inlet into the stock, upper is a modded Krag bbl band.

Did exactly that with my stainless Rossi since I couldn't find a matching magtube mount. Just drilled, tapped, and epoxied the swivel in for good measure.

As far as tube clamp mounts not working that well, I have them on the rest of my lever guns and yet to have any failures. I'm not sure how people are making them fail, but I'm not sliding down ziplines or Jason Bourne-ing anybody with my lever guns either.
