A friend of mine in TX had a 16 inch Rossi lever gun, 454 Casull, decided he needed to sell it, and I decided I needed to have it. I had never really paid much attention to Rossi guns, being a Winchester fan from top to bottom............ But this 454 peaked some curiosity, and a friend of mine in Alaska was also playing with one. I picked it up this week, was very impressed with the fit and finish with the exception of the recoil pad which looks like crap........ regardless it works good.

I have not tried any 454s yet, but did put some heavy 45 Colt through it......... It seems to like 1600 fps +, I had some 300 CEB #13 Solids I had loaded for @BatteryOaksBilly , that was too long for his little short cylinder revolver, so I kept them for my other lever gun in 45 Colt. And I had some 240 Raptors loaded to 1800 fps in that same batch.......

I am just beginning to work with the gun but so far it really is rather impressive. And lots of fun........

I have had one for years but mine has a thin metal butt plate. No pad at all. Legacy brand I believe. Haven't shot it in .....well forever.
Only factory ammo but I will say 454 gets your attention.

Michael,
I’m a huge fan of the Rossi’s. I’ve owned a 454 and foolishly sold it, have a 45 Colt and 357 now. Not sure if your friend told you but under the rear sight it’s drilled and tapped. The sight hides it well
