If I searched there's probably 13 threads about this, but I had to ask. I like the fit n finish of the Wrangler, but the Kygunco deal on the RR with both cylinders for $135 minus $20 rebate (plus FFL fee) has me thinking of just "settling" for the RR. Plus the Mag shot shells would be better for the land and the inevitable snakes.

So aside from "Both" (Obviously the long term answer) which to get?

I have a Wrangler and I like it just fine. However, for the money, and the rebate, I'd go with the Heritage with both cylinders. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
That said, I stopped by my local pawn shop a while ago and he had a used black Wrangler. The grips matched the grips on my bronze Wrangler. I was able to get it for Heriatge money but, no rebate. Hahaha

Had a RR. Word "had". It's great for a tool. Tackle box, tool box gun. Or something to teach a kid . Mine was new and the grip finish wore out after one outing . Shaved lead too. And rusted easily. Sold it for a wrangler and never looked back.
I just recently got the Diamond back Sidekick. And it's great, may want to take a look at those.

The only thing I didn't like about my RR was the sights. It might have been just mine or just me, but we didn't get along. Just really imprecise IIRC.

I've shot a RR very limited, but it was the 6.5" barrel which I didn't care for. Have handled the Wrangler and sight picture seemed better but both are probably accurate enough.

@Hellquest that Sidekick looks pretty sweet, convertible and 9 rounds... never seen one in the wild though, but will look around!

If you can find one they are pretty nice. Good weight too. Feel like a full size caliber

see if you can give your RR a good inspection before you buy. some are a little rough
and i heard the frames aren't great for a lot of 22 mag... but maybe they've changed some stuff.

I’ve had both. The wrangler seems to be tighter and more solid. Lost my RoughRider to a failed hand. Not worth fixing. I put a lot of rounds through it. A LOT.

I would certainly buy another RoughRider without hesitation if one grabbed my attention.

If I limited it to one, I’d go with the wrangler and I don’t really like Ruger.

I have to say, that Sidekick looks real attractive. 9 rounder with dual cylinders, can find that with a RR but not a whole lot cheaper and the swing out cylinders for reloading sound a lot nicer than fussing with the gates... Edit and just noticed it’s not SAO? How’s the DA trigger @Hellquest ?

DA is heavy. But I lighten it a bit. Many of my wild drink cans ,that have been hanging around my land have fallen to it lately .

Where'd you find it? If you get bored and want to sell yours I'm in Brunswick Co. 😁 I think the fact it has a DA as well as 9 rounds and a flip out cylinder... those are some worthwhile add ons.

Heritage now has a $30 rebate going on. PSA has some models starting at $105.

Picked up a dual cylinder Heritage at Cabela's for $100 after rebate. Don't care much for the stupid safety but other than that it appears to be decent.CC550336-18D5-4EDE-9FA3-079D55D88000.jpeg

Guess I never followed up… I have a Heritage for now. Happened to find a used birdshead 3.5” with both cylinders for $125. 22 Mag was a deciding factor, after checking the shot pattern (snake gun) it was a good call.

Still love the Wrangler and will probably add one someday, as well as an upgrade to the Sidekick once they’re actually available. But the Rough Rider solved a need inexpensively.

My son has the RR. Fit and finish decent for the money and a fun little plinker. Like others have said, don't care for the safety on a saa.

I actually liked the safety on the RR because it allowed unlimited unconsequential dry fire. But then I don't have much history with revolvers so it doesn't stand out as ugly or blasphemous to me.

For the money it’s hard to beat the RR.
Use the money you saved instead of buying the Ruger for Ammo and go have some cowboy fun.

Personally I'd go with the Wrangler. I've shot a number of RR's, and they've all been good. 22lr and 22wmr typically use different sized barrels, so I don't care much for dual cylinder guns.

I just wish Ruger offered the Wrangler with adjustable sights. I'd buy one in a minute if they did. I'll have to stick with my Smith 617 until then.

The rough rider was my first pistol my Dad bought for me. I carried it everywhere on our ranch. I was only 10 at the time so I had to carry the bullets in my pocket like Barney Fife till I became a teenager. It is prolly my favorite pistol because of that.

The Ruger has more durability. If you are looking for a 'tool' then go with the Ruger. If you are looking for a gun to fan the hammer, make you smile, and play cowboy without having to cry over 45 LC every time it goes bang, get the Heritage. I have the 'Barkeep" and it just makes me giggle whenever I try and go through a cylinder as fast as I can. I also don't ever use it for anything serious like hunting or dispatching animals, and at the price point it is an easy justification.

I like my convertible RR well enough, and it’s a birdshead with a good 3.75” cylinder, but it’s about time to list it for a Sidekick. Mostly do t like trying to remember if it’s empty under the hammer, though I haven’t understood why the safety doesn’t fix that, but they still advertise not to carry it that way.

Happy with the Super Wangler with both cylinders. Comes in at a different price point, but very comparable to a single six from a performance perspective - without the concerns of beating around with a $850 dollar gun. The adjustable sights on the Super Wrangler are the clincher.

I have the heritage and it is a great shooter. Had some issues with one of the cylinders and they sent me another with no problems.

So I've never fired a wrangler and I do have the heritage. BUT I acquired a rare heritage with came as a "tech collectors series" pc from them. Totally different packaging, documentation and is very accurate. Got this probably 15 yrs ago. I agree that I'm not fond of a safety on A revolver but I. Pleased other than that.

A whole hunting season later and I'm still very happy with the side kick. Zero cylinder issues. No rust either. Which for my heritage was an issue for some reason. Even though I clean them after field use. But 4 to 8 hours a day in the woods will do that. I love the ability to open the cylinder and Change my ammo quickly. We have old barns and houses on the land and being able to throw CB 22 in it quickly and pop a few squirrels or rats is great. Or snake shot. I usually carry HV 22lr in it for small game . Switch for my trap line. CB for clean "dispatch" inside traps.
