Ruger American

I have one and it’s my dedicated squirrel gun. Pillar bedded in a Boyd’s Prairie Hunter & Burris Droptine 2-7. I shoot CCI suppressor 45gr and paired with a can, it’s a whole lot of fun.

Being a 10/22 owner is a plus because they share magazines.

@Amps 13 has being testing his out with different ammos lately and I think he has been satisfied.

I have the same rifle as the one in this link. Topped with a Burris Fairfield II 3x9x40. Shoot it suppressed with CCI Standard. Bunny fart quite and @Bows & Bullets sets up leftover clays from the shotgun range at the 100yd line. She nails them all day long with boring regularity. I recommend the rifle in the link with 👍🏻👍🏻 up.

I think you’ll be much happier with 22LR. I recently got a Ruger American in 22WMR. In testing various ammo, I was schooled that it’s hard to find really consistent 22Mag ammo when compared to 22LR. Nothing “match” quality at least. I totally agree with several member’s past comments about that, now that it’s been verified by my own experience. The groups weren’t bad, per-se, but I have a 60s or 70s vintage Mossberg 640 in 22WMR that is more accurate. The attached targets were shot with my Ruger American off a sled/bench at 30M and then 75M testing 5 types of ammo. going clockwise from top
Left # 1: Federal classic JHP 50 grain #2: Federal JHP 50 grain. #3: Federal JHP 30 grain, and #4: Winchester 30 grain JHP
By the way the center bull of the 75M target was shot with Winchester 40grain that the scope was zeroed with. You can see how those groups sure open up at distance.

Wow, those groups fell apart fast!! I think I've decided on the 22" bbl 22 LR.
