I apologize if this has been covered before. I am still new here. I recently got my wife a Ruger LCP22 because she wants to take the CC class. I know the .22LR is not ideal, but I prefer a .22LR to a pointy stick, and she is a novice with firearms. Imagine that after being married to me for nearly a half-century.🤣I'm just tickled that she has finally taken an interest. The little handgun is fun to shoot, even though it isn't my first choice for a .22 handgun ( my favorite is the Browing Buckmark Hunter). First, (IMO) the positives 1. It is compact. 2. It fits her hand well. 3. It is very concealable. 4. It is a Ruger. 5. It holds 10 rounds. 6. It is pretty reliable with the proper ammo, it seems to like CCI Blazer and Stinger, I've got some other brands that we haven't tried yet, but it hates Federal ( Auto-Match especially) with about a 40% FTF and FTE rate. 7. It is simple to take down and clean. 8. The slide is easy to operate. Now the negatives. ! The magazine is difficult for her to fill with ammo, with no little knob to slide the follower down to assist in loading. 2. The awkward safety. 3. That confounded unnecessary magazine disconnect. I was wondering about other's thoughts/opinions about this pistol. I know it is suboptimal for a defense weapon, but she ain't ready for a 9mm, .380, .38 Special, or more firearm. She has to start somewhere.
