I've looked at options and have found a couple but wanted to see if there are any other options out there.
My Ruger PCC currently has a Holosun 510 on it. I would like to mount a 507 to the barrel so it is not affected by removing the barrel and retain the iron sights.

So far I've found one made by NCStar but am really wondering about the quality.

Found a article on The Firearms Blog about one someone had made but apparently it's not available for purchase.

All of the other ones I have seen delete the rear sight.

I ordered the NCStar one to give it a go but seeing if there's anything else out there I'm missing.

I'm curious to hear your opinion of the NCStar mount. I tried my 510C on the receiver, and it's too high for my taste.

I'll be the guinea pig. I bought both the RMR sight base and the pic rail sight base. Both for 20 bucks including shipping. I'm prepared to be disappointed.

I did the same thing.... blown $40 on worse things.

I spent 20 total. They were 9.99 each where I bought them. Some vendor I've never dealt with before.

It's funny. I bought a chunk of aluminum about a year ago to try and machine a solution for this very purpose. Never got around to it. LOL.

Last night, I came very close to buying the Midwest Industries handguard and their T1-compatible side mount. Apparently, most T1-format red dots will line up with the irons when using that side mount, and there are lots of other advantages to that handguard.

Still tempted.

I cannot get the T10 screws holding that base in place to budge. I've broken off a number of T10 bits already including Bosch and Makita impact ready bits. I've tried heat to break any loctite loose. No joy....

Maybe they used Rocksett, in which case you would need to soak it in hot water for a while.

I've been spraying it liberally with penetrating oil the last couple nights hoping for some magic to happen..

I put in a call to Ruger to ask. The CS lady said she didn't think any threadlocker was used there but they are following up with the higher level techs and getting back to me. This is a gun I bought new and I've never had the rear base off.

After days of frustration. Multiple applications of PB Blaster, heat from a soldering iron to the screws. Hot water. And about a dozen broken Torx bits, I decided to take a more radical approach.

I put the barrel in my drill press vise and gently and carefully drilled out the screw heads. This allowed me to get the base off. I was then able to grip the remaining bit of the screw shank and remove them.

There was NO threadlocker on the threads of those screws. Somehow, something had the heads of those screws locked in place within the body of the base. I can't explain it. Once the screw heads were gone though the rest was easy.

So I tried out the picatinny base first. If you're not using an RMR or Holosun that would be the way to go with some sort of QD mount.

Then I tried out the dedicated RMR mount. That's definitely the way to go. With a 507C it cowitnessed nicely with the iron sights.

I never thought I'd find myself recommending an NCSTAR product but damn if it doesnt work.... Will report back after I've had a chance to shoot it. I like the fact that they take advantage of all three threaded holes under the Ruger rear base. The factory base (thankfully as it turns out) only uses two.

From what I read on M*Carbo's forum, over-torqued sight mount bolts seems to be a pretty common issue. Good job getting them out.
