Ordering a safariland 6354 rds for my "battle belt" and I'm a little lost on the connection from the qls fork that comes on the holster and connecting it to the belt.

I'm not sure if I need a mount that's cantable, to make matters more confusing my blue alpha belt is 1.75" and it seems all the options except the cubl are 2" or 2.25".

Also if I choose a x300 or a tlr1hl the SKU and product numbers are the same. Are these holsters kind of universal for the light? I'm running a tlr1hl right now but would like to upgrade to an x300 in the future.

I just got the same belt. Safariland mid ride works good and goes on just like any other belt. Add your QLS female adapter and be done.

Safariland makes great stuff but damnit if they don’t make it difficult as hell to figure out what you need. I would look at the 6390RDS it’s a newer version of the 6354 and doesn’t have as many quirks. For example, I had a 6354 that I ordered and ended up sending back because it wouldn’t work without some dremel work with my RMR on a Glock. Did some reading and apparently they will only worth with the rear sight IN FRONT of the optic.

I have 2 6390 RDS models now and they work great, with any optic, or flashlight (as long as the gun is compatible obviously) I also recommend the mid ride attachment.

6390 is not offered in camouflage for the 5" m&p. I'm a whore for multicam. Maybe I'm ridiculous but I really wanted the whole belt to match lol.

I assume the 6354 is kydex and can be massaged if the light isn't quite 100% fitting or if you get a comp?

On their site it shows that it is.

But yeah, you may have to do some mods, but it’s kydex so you should be able to make it work for you.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Sorry I should have specified. I wasn't trying to be rude.

Tbh a 2.0 probably works in a 1.0 holster. I don't see why It wouldn't.

No worries. Didn’t take it that way.

I actually don’t think they do. I have a 5in 1.2 and a 2.0 compact. Different sizes but they 2.0 seems too thick to go into a 1.0 holster

In case you haven't thought of it, if you run a plate carrier keep that in mind for setting up the drop on your holster and test fit.
I found myself liking not as much drop for a belt only rig but then once combined with a carrier and plates I wanted more drop.

@Fred this is an amazing write up I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions.

The model numbers are definitely confusing to me. On safarilands website the last digit is supposed to denote the ride height of the 3 holes on the holster. Being that the 6390 is 9 degrees is it safe to assume the only difference between a 6390 and 6354 is the ride height and the cant of the holster? Both denote a "rds" designation so I assume they have the same optic footprint now?

I was speaking about comps because I've always been curious about running a comp on a 4.25" or 4" m&p and they never seem to work with holsters so I figured itd be a direct question on modifying it make the gun fit better.

Not sure if I'm understanding correctlu is the 6354 RDS a legacy shell with a fancy hood and the 6390rds is a new shell design with a Similar fancy hood?

Safariland emailed me back this morning, looks like on the m&p the shells are the same and they are changing the number just for the finish differences. Ridiculous and confusing. I appreciate everyone's help hopefully the pistol fits well and no major mods or returns have to happen. Below is the response from safariland.

Good afternoon,

Thanks for reaching out! The holster bodies between those two are exactly the same, the only difference is the attachment they come installed on. As you mentioned, the 6390RDS comes on a mid-ride UBL, while the 6354RDS normally comes on a leg-shroud.

Since you're looking at the limited-edition model, those come on a QLS 19 receiver instead of a leg-shroud.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!

Thank you,

The Safariland Customer Care Team

They actually make a 6354RDS model now that fits more optics. The old model was the DO.

I’ve got a 6354DO that fits my rmr g19.5 just fine. But it won’t fit a my 19.5 with a 508t. Also have a 6390rds that works with both.

Pretty sure the 6354RDS has a hood and has no cant. 6390RDS has hood and FBI cant. It would appear the cant is one of the only differences.

I bought a 6378RDS with MC wrap for my G19 off Amazon for $115. Idk what's up with the price ranges...I see them all over the map. Most places selling that model it was $150+. I took the gamble and it worked out well. I think it was for a SF X300 light but I've got a TLR-7a on it. Haven't tried the PL350 yet. I'll prob lose my mind if I have to buy another holster.

I've got it on a mid-ride drop with a Trex Arms thigh strap (sorry, @Derek8404 ) on a Blue Alpha war belt.

I would bet money they probably make 2-3x as many Glock holsters as any other firearm brand lol. Economy of scale.

If you look on ebay, fb, or any other random non gun sales website search safariland and it seems 80% or more of them are Glock 17/19.

Yes, but I'm just saying if you buy new at any online retailer they were all priced over $150. I think they were about $165 for that same model, so I'm not sure why I caught that one for so much lower on Amazon.

Like this, I have no idea what the difference is in a 6360RDS but the MC wrap, RDS compatible x300 for G19 is now $92

Does anyone know where to get a 6390RDS-8182 mc for a remotely reasonable price? If not that, coyote brown or ranger green cordura or stx considered.
Idk what model that is, but it's always worth putting up a WTB on here and GAFS.

Like I said, Amazon has been my best bet for Safariland stuff.

M&P 2.0L 5 inch light bearing holster.

I made a wanted post.
I just did a good search of GAFS and only a couple have been sold on there in the last couple years. I don't have an account/rep anyway.
It's tough to find a place that stocks that model and isn't overpriced. Will take another good look on Amazon tomorrow.
Ya that's definitely not one you'd see often...unfortunately, sometimes you just gotta pay to play. I'm a southpaw so I know the holster struggle. I've pretty much had to buy every holster new.
