Here is what’s happening at 17 South Practical Shooting Club in the next few weeks…
The Sand Gnat Challenge IDPA match – we currently have over $22,000 in prizes, including approximately 10 guns!16 April – USPSA match – the stages for this match are modified versions of stages for the 2022 Sand Gnat Challenge. We will also have a USPSA Classifier.
The stages will be left in place, targets removed, and bays will be roped off and closed. If you see them roped off, please do not enter the bay without permission from Mark Compton.
18-20 April – Setup for the 2022 Sand Gnat Challenge by Georgia Brass. As we set up, Bays 1-8 and the 100 YD will be closed and roped off. These will be closed until the 24th. Please use the other ranges – 100M, Pistol bays, 500YD and bays to the right of the 500 yard. Trap, Skeet and Clays Course will remain open. If you have questions about setting up, please contact Mark Compton. If you have concerns, please contact Toby Hansen.
21 April – CSO staff day for the 2022 Sand Gnat Challenge by Georgia Brass – Please do not drive past the 100M Range unless you ware part of this match.
The clubhouse will be open for Thursday night dinner and skeet.
22 April – Staff day for the 2022 Sand Gnat Challenge by Georgia Brass – Please do not drive past the 100M range unless you are part of this match.
The clubhouse will be open (time to be determined) for staff/match dinner – this is OPEN to all club members and will be pay-as-you-go. Ruger will be on hand and we will be doing a drawing at 7:30PM. Tickets for the drawing will be available only at the door. Proceeds will go to the St. Vincent’s Academy Girl’s Rifle team.
23 April – Match day for the 2022 Sand Gnat Challenge by Georgia Brass – Only match staff will be permitted to drive past the small pistol bay. All others, please park and walk.
We will have several vendors on hand at the match, be sure to stop by and visit them.

Also happening on the 23rd, we have Ruger Firearms demos happening throughout the range.
On the 500 YD, Ruger will have some of their long-range rifles to shoot.
On the 100M range, Ruger will have some of the Marlin Lever Guns and such.
On the Pistol bay to the right of the 100M, Ruger will have some handguns.
On the 100 YD range, we will have the LEFT side will be the stage for the Sand Gnat Challenge. On the RIGHT side will be a “Side-Match Fundraiser”. This side match will be open to anyone that wishes to shoot it.
This fundraiser side-match will benefit the St. Vincent’s Academy Girl’s Rifle Team. This side-match, Ruger is providing both handguns and ammo. There are 2 divisions to shoot. Will be $20 donation to shoot each division. WINNER of each division will receive a certificate for THAT gun.
23 April – After the match, awards will be at the clubhouse. Then after, we will be tearing down the match.
24 April – we will be completing tear-down and putting everything away from the match – we will be at the range about 10am until complete.
Ruger should be at the range on the 24th to allow folks to shoot their guns.
