As the title asks, if one were to take a short barreled 12 gauge with a screw in choke, would this be worth using for rabbit or small game? Assuming the barrel is threaded for a choke would the shorter length really matter?

You may lose some velocity, which may limit you on shots that are farther out. My most accurate shotgun with buckshot is an SBS. Very tight groups, especially for a cylinder bore. You won’t know until you try it.

I’d be less concerned about choke and velocity and more concerned with “swing”. I can’t think of a better word for it. Rabbits run. The short arc of an SBS will be more difficult to track a moving target than something with a longer barrel.

Go shoot some 5 stand or other clays game with it. That’ll be a decent indicator.
