The Greenville Gun Club will host the “Feud at Dark Corner”, the 2018 South Carolina SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) State Championship on September 20-23, 2018.
Participants must hold a current SASS membership (a requirement for State Championship or higher matches) but spectators are welcome at no charge. Eye and ear protection is required in the shooting areas.
Thursday September 20 will feature optional “side matches”, including my favorite, a four stage Wild Bunch match. A Range Operations-Level One (RO-1) class will also be offered.
The “main match” stages will happen on Friday and Saturday. For those unfamiliar with cowboy action shooting, these are the stages that mirror the type of shooting we enjoy in regular monthly matches: shooters use two revolvers, rifle and shotgun on steel targets.
We wrap up Sunday morning with a head-to-head “shootoff” between the top shooters from the main match.
The state and regional matches usually draw vendors who can supply Old West clothing and other needs. The sizing on the clothing can vary from that of “modern” clothing so this is a great way to shop. My favorite cast bullet supplier “Bullets by Scarlett” is a main match sponsor; who wants to pay shipping on LEAD?
