The newer (2015-?) Scion tCs with the automatic have paddle shifters. Anyone have one? They any fun to drive?

I'm kicking around the idea of getting rid of my soccer mom mobile (RAV4) and into something more... fun? Not a SUV? Looked at many many used cars in my price range, and so many are easy to rule out because they've got some fatal flaw... usually expensive maintenance, requiring premium fuel, or having stupid/proprietary radio setups that can't be swapped out easily (speaker phone needed for work).

The tC seems to be a good compromise in any generation. Back seat isn't usable, but I don't care about that. I carry 3 duffle bags and a garment bag every day so having enough room for all of that with easy access it key. Anything larger I can use the truck, so I don't need crazy cargo space.

Totally different generation but build quality between a TC (wife had one and I did all the work, including repairing the head bolt threads in the block) and a corolla was used.

Wife had a 06 TC.

Daughter absolutely loves her Kia Soul (from before the turbo). I couldn't believe how little it cost.

consider the Hyundai Veloster. Has a 3rd for for back seat access. It is the most deceptively roomy car I have ever owned.
The DCT option includes paddle shifters. This transmission shifts much faster than a traditional automatic or "auto stick."
For a little more fun, the Veloster Turbo.
Or even better, the upcoming Veloster N with a 2.0L turbo and 275hp.
I regularly use my 2012 Veloster for runs to home depot. I've had loads with 4x4x8' PT posts.
And my 6'5" fits in the back seat.
