So i bought an OG Savage 110, and it doesn't have a picatinny rail, it has the classic weaver style mounts.

I'm not trying to build a super-sniper, just a 'kill a deer at 150 yrds' reliable sort.

But I've never mounted a scope to a weaver mount on a gun with some kick. Seems fine on a 22, but this guy is 30-06, and I don't want to blow my zero after every shot.

Should I:
A) Just clamp down some weaver rings real tight (points for being the cheapest option).
B) Figure out how to upgrade/adapt to picatinny
C) Figure out how to direct-mount some rings

I'm on a tight schedule coz I plan to take this rifle out on Monday, so can't really wait on parts. Earlier this week I ordered some cheapies off of amazon (https://a.co/63Bs2BQ) but that may have been a mistake.

I'd probably put a pic rail on it and then rings or a base on that. EGW makes a base that's pretty popular. Straight or with some cant built in. i.e.: 20MOA

If you didn't go the pic rail route, then reduce the number of parts with a set of Leopold rings that mount directly to the action.

Somthing like this:

It'll be a fine shooter for a deer gun within 2 or 300yds with the right ammo.

I shot Weaver rings and mounts for years growing up. I think Wongmart carried them. It's all we had and all we could afford. Never had an issue with them not holding zero on hunting rigs. Mount the scope, sight it in 1.5-2.0 inches high at a 100 and go hunting. 30-06 is a fine round as is your Savage. Great combo for anything you want to hunt in NA. Since you posted on Friday and planned to hunt tomorrow (Monday) no sense in ordering anything now. So go with what you can find locally. I pulled my 30-06 out of the safe last week (Wby Vanguard) and busted three deer in three days. One was a small 6 point buck that I probably should have let walk but he was at 350 yards and moving at last light so I took the shot and piled him up, DRT. The old 30-06 did it again. Have fun!

And don't worry about the recoil. 30-06 is a medium shooting round and not a magnum and it's not a big deal. I may run 20-30 rounds off the bench and not think twice about it.
