When searching the forum I get hit with:

“The search could not be completed because the search keywords were too short, too long, or too common”

….all too often. Being a firearm forum I would hope there’s some software parameters to adjust that would make searching for certain calibers possible/easier.

Thanks for the tip!

When searching .45-70* it does actually give results but omits “45” as being too common so the results aren’t much help.

The * trick works for me sometimes, but often I don’t get the results I know are there. So I use the same method I use on ARF…Google search for this:

45-70 site:carolinafirearmsforum.com

…and see if that helps. It’s not as convenient, but it works well.

I think it’s more a function of both Xenforo and VBulletin forum platforms. They both sorta suck, okay, really suck, when it comes to searching.

When someone says to a noob, “Hey buddy, you shoulda searched the forum first!!” I think to myself, “Are you an idiot?"

I find searching the The Goggles and using the search terms and the name of the forum to sometimes be worthwhile.
Sometimes.

The problem is searches of 3 or less characters can appear in other full words.

And I wasn’t bashing CFF. I find it to be true on every forum I in habit. Sometimes even with larger words, names, terms, my own posts from the day before won’t appear in search results, so I have to pull up my content to find them.
