Shield Z9

Same here. Got my tracking as well

Not to poop on the parade (you know I love my Glocks), but isn't this still larger than a Hellcat with less capacity?

Yup, sure is. I’m buying this purely out of curiosity and to test it out. I don’t carry the 43 anymore anyway, I’ve switched to the P365X. However IMO, if I were looking for a new carry gun it wouldn’t be the hellcat. I can’t stand shooting them as it is almost too small for my hands.

Yes. But I can't get a grip on a Hellcat or 365

Yeah, I've shot a friends and it's a struggle to hold it tight, especially with +P.

I will wait until @fieldgrade says they work reliably. I personally don’t want to switch out my mag release for it because it will mess up the OEM mags if you do use the shield mag release.

Ehh, I don’t know how much truth there is too that. I’ve been using a metal mag catch in a Glock 19 for years and I haven’t had any issues.

I agree I have heard that from several folks.

Maybe it’s just a metal mag thing with polymer mag catches?

That could be the case. I’ll let y’all know if I have any issues. I don’t plan to swap out the OEM mag catch to use with this new mag.
I think shield arms recommends it because the metal mags tear up the OeM mag catch, not sure if that is a legit thing or if it is a sales gimmick or not so I will be interested in what you find out

I'd bet the factory catch is just fine if you don't train/compete with the gun. If you're just going do gentle administrative work with it for regular use it's probably fine. Slamming mags in I can see where the plastic catches may not hold up well.

I think it’s possible, but I don’t think very likely with the average shooter, even competing. I would bet their testing was an absurd amount of rounds in a short period of time to accelerate the abuse on the catch.

I can tell you first hand the oem 43x mag release does not last very long with shield arms 15 round mags. I used the oem until it wouldn’t hold a mag in the gun anymore. And that didn’t really take long maybe 4 or 5 range trips and the gun was a single shot until the new mag catch got delivered and was installed.

That seems high for a single mag. I really hope it does work though keep us updated.
I agree. It is for a magazine and a metal magazine catch though, guessing the extra magazines will be a little more reasonable down the road.

Mines scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Now that is how you release a product. Cloud Defensive should take notes…… Drop a couple teasers that you have as new product coming out; release the product on launch day and actually have enough stock so people can get them; ship quickly….not that hard

Mine's not due in until Wednesday, so Derek gets to be the first tester.

They must be located closer to me in the US then.

*edit.

Looks like Montana, so a little closer but not too much.

Probably first in, first out. My order was like 40 minutes after they opened up the page. Guessing you were Johnny on the spot with your email notification.

No, I really wasn’t. I saw the IG post then went to look at it and I actually ordered after I saw your post saying you got a tracking #

I think Shield took notes from their own S15 release. That was a mess.

That’s what your supposed to do as a company. If dick something up, you learn from it and do better next time, not do the same thing over and over. It’s a concept Cloud Defensive has yet to grasp.

“SeRvEr IsSuEs it’s not our fault”🤔

Not to mention selling stuff that hasn’t even been produced yet claiming it’s ready to ship

I ordered on Wednesday, also. I got a tracking number almost immediately. That afternoon I got a shipment notification. Mine should be here Monday or Tuesday.

I’ll stick to the Magguts +2. Proven reliability, $30 for +2 with oem mags and significantly lower profile. You might as well just carry a 43X if you go the shield route on the 43.

Just arrived. Looks like Shield wasn’t paying attention, because they gave me a free mag release with it even though I only ordered a single mag…..

Initial impressions. It seems high quality like their previous releases but the mag will not drop free from my gun. Not sure what that’s about. I’ll get out to the desert tomorrow and run some rounds through it and let y’all know.

As far as I've seen, they're only selling the combo pack right now of one mag and the mag release.

I'm looking forward to your review. Mine should arrive Wednesday, but I'll be in San Antonio most of next week.

They are selling the kit and claim it won’t work without their mag catch in it. Which, could be true considering your mag drop issue

Enjoy San Antonio, excellent city and I can’t wait to get back there

Agree with you that San Antonio is a really diverse and cool place. The Alamo of course is not very big nor really that much to it but that area around it is awesome

So just got back from the desert and I put a few mags through it, nothing too crazy, maybe about 50 rounds. No issues feeding and locked back every time, but the thing will not drop free from my gun. I spent a long time last night inserting it over and over, didn’t appear to have any wear in the mag release. I’ll put in the new one this evening since I have it.
