I know it is still a half a year away, I was just wondering if anyone is going? If you are, let me know. As long as nothing changes, I should be able to make it this year. I would like to meet-up with any members that are going to be there.

I have tentative plans as of now that won't firm up until the end of Sept after I see what the hacks have to say about my knee.....

I just looked up plane tickets this morning, nothing set in stone but its on the radar

Any of yall been before?
If you have, plan to go again?

I always see pictures from people like Noir there, but didnt know what 'regular' folks thought of the event

That guy's a fart.
Regular folks are not allowed passage. I wonder how many published YouTube videos it would take to be able get in. Be a nice road trip.

I dont think it would necessarily take YT views, but some sort of fame.
Which, the easiest way, I think, would be an online campaign through youtube and insta etc, but even that would be hard as hell

I dont think it has anything to do with how famous you are. You just need to be "part of the industry". I'm pretty sure any gun store owner/workers can go. Or companies can bring guests with them - which is how the youtube folks get in.

*edit - i went to the NRA show this year and spoke with several vendors and "gun celebs". They all seemed to say the same thing - NRA Show > Shot Show. A few of them spoke of Shot Show with disgust.

Why did they speak of it with disgust?

I can see that it's a work thing. Lots of scheduled press events, promotions, trying to connect with suppliers, distributors, make deals, get your product noticed by the "right" people, etc. Tons of pressure to "get the industry work done". The NRA show seems more like "meet random people who like stuff and show them your cool toys" without having to deal with them as business entities.

Our company does a big shindig in Vegas each year. It used to be a nerd event, all the company nerds get together and learn stuff, connect with old friends, make new friends from other geos, etc. Now that we have actual customer there, it's more of an entertainment/promotion/marketing/schmmozing thing with more expected of you to be 'customer facing' and less 'learn about the latest technology'. Totally changes the face of an event when you have to work at it vs. it being a meeting place for like minded individuals to share.
