So, I got a Sig 556 on gunbroker. Always wanted one.
I didn't know a lot about them, and made a poor choice.
I actually got a very early Gen 1, after they stopped using Swiss parts, but before they made the changes that would allow me to use a Sig folding stock.
Here's what it originally looked like:
Ugly 'fishscale' handguard. Uses a commercial spec buffer, and has a flare in the back of the lower, meant to make it m4 stock compatible, that makes it not compatible with the Swiss Sig 550/551/etc folding stocks.
So, improved my Gen 1 Sig 556 a bit.
Future to do:

- Got some green Sig 551 handguards from JDI Imports. It said they were out of stock, but they had them. Incidentally, if you wanna plonk a few thousand down, you can get a full on Sig 550/551/552/553 from them.
- Removed that screw pivot pin and replaced with a push pin.
- Removed the old buffer, which was commercial length, replaced with a milspec one.
- Added Hera Arms CCS buttstock, because I think it looks cool and fits well with the OD green of the handguards.
- Added Sig 556 Hogue Grips.
Future to do:
- Need to add Sig bayonet lug. Not the Nato, the original Swiss one, I've already got an stg 57 bayonet that will fit. I've read that I may need to bevel the portion of the pin I'm driving in, potentially add some grease as well. Got the lug from JDI.
- Need a sling. I'm thinking G3 sling, either leather or green?
- Potentially add folding adapter to the buffer. Not sure which model to go with.
- The ShootingSight trigger? I've heard that the aftermarket trigger is nice, but I'll see if its necessary. So far, I don't mind the stock.
