I’m thinking about picking one of these up, when I can find one reasonably priced. Anyone have any experience with this particular model or have any experience to share with the P938 in general?

Thinking of making it my carry gun if I like it and it’s reliable...and if I actually get one...

I had a sao 226 legion. Really liked it but the finish wasn’t very good. Rusted in a few spots and sig wasn’t any help.

Just a heads up and my experience with the legion guns. Good luck and I hope you find what you’re looking for.

I’ve got a 938 but I don’t carry it. It was my dad’s and that’s the only reason I still have it. It is a well made gun but it’s heavy, and hard to manipulate the safety on a small frame. I shoot it well enough but after carrying stricter fired guns, it’s just not for me.

I like them, also have one because it was my dads. Can’t hit the side of a barn with it though.

I had a 938 also. Really, really liked it. Solid little gun, well built, was pretty accurate, and recoil was very tame for a gun that small.
But, like Hammer, I had a hard time manipulatimg the safety on that small frame. Because of that, it never became my carry gun and I eventually sold it.

I agree with @draco88...I have one. It shoots well for a small gun. Wanted it to be my EDC, but my hands are just too big for a gun that small. As a result, it stays in the safe and gets no range love.

I will throw it out there, if you have not messed with one much, they are an absolute PITA to reassemble sometimes with the non captured guide rod. That’s one of those “different strokes for different folks” things, once you know how to do it, it’s ok, but my dad absolutely could not reassemble his if he ever had to.

I love the 938 great shooter as many have already stated. I have medium sized hands so the safety isn't too big a deal.
The legions are nice for looking at but there has been a lot of talk about the finish not holding up if carried. I have a buddy with a legion dealing with finish issues.
I guess we have become spoiled with captured springs but I cut my teeth in the 1911 game with a non captured and don't find it much of a problem. The ones I hate are the springs that require a "tool" to disassemble/reassemble lol.
TLDR: If 1911 is your thing and you have medium to small hands get an Equinox or Nightmare 938 to carry.

Thanks for the opinions so far.

I have small hands so I don’t think the safety would be too much of an issue for me. My favorite range guns at the moment (when I get to the range lately which isn’t very much) are my Glock 44 and Dan Wesson 9mm 1911. I believe in my old age, 41, I’m becoming more of a 1911 guy. Not getting rid of my g19s (still have 4), but I’d rather shoot a 1911 if given the choice.

I've got a 938 SAS. I replaced the ambi safety switch with one from the 238 that's left side only. It slims the gun down a little bit and takes away a snag point. I've got neuropathy in my 47 year old hands and don't have a problem with the safety at all. As stated, the non captured spring is a bit of a headache. I've learned to use a dowel rod to keep it under a bit of control while reassembling. It's a sweet litte gun that I settled on after trying out a Shield and a G43 and not sticking with them over time. I've been tempted by the newer striker guns like the 365 because of the capacity, but stick with the 938 and a reload for now.

I've got a 938 Extreme and my GF has a 938 SAS. Great shooting guns, especially with the extended mags.

I agree....loved mine and was a great shooter but breaking it down and reassembling was a PITA. Was the only reason I sold mine.

Calling @BatteryOaksBilly ,your table is ready.
Wellll, First..all knowledge does Not flow from this fountain.
I carry Point and Press guns outside the Gates, Sig 365 SAS.
Inside the gates I carry and assortment of guns. Mostly side safety guns or revolvers. I carry a 938 Alot. As someone upstream said having been raised on the 1911 platform, the gun is easy for me to carry and disassemble. I like that they can be loaded And unloaded with the safety On. It mirrors close enough the function of a Colt 1911 to be "familiar" to my old brain memory. While it might go to Hell today, thus far Zero malfunctions through a good deal of service. It visits the Wizard daily. The 10 yard shots are difficult to me but the 3,5 and 7 are gimmes on the great Wizard.
I like it............................inside the Gates.

Im like you in that if I carry it, it’s around the farm, and I have something else pretty close. I to shoot 1911 framed guns a lot but the frame on the 938 is just too small for my comfort to carry it all the time. No doubt about it, it’s a sturdy pistol, but a G43 or G19 gets carried a whole lot more by me.

I have little tiny girlish hands...fits me fine. Actually, I find I am more Adaptable than most folks I know. I try to be able to shoot pretty good with any handgun I pick up.
I try as well. My problem is that I have more than I can shoot. You know the old saying, “ Beware the man with one gun, he can probably shoot it well!” I’m good with several handguns that I have and descent with others but some I don’t shoot enough but to be mediocre. I dearly love SSA Colts and old 3 screw flattop Ruger Blackhawks, but I don’t shoot them enough anymore to be good with them.

“ Beware the man with one gun, he can probably shoot it well!”
I Never believed this. I have never met him in 72 years. If he ain't got but one gun he ain't got enough money to buy ammo to practice with. I have seen alot of shooters here and at thousands of matches and never met this fabled One Gun Man. ;)

I'd bet One Gun Man as a tale goes back to the days when the economy of owning more than one gun was perhaps a greater challenge to justify with scarce resources. Anybody who was rich enough to own multiple guns was probably considered a pansy or poser from the big city.

I had a p938 SAS (not the new weird sight one the old one) had an issue with the takedown pin falling out. Sig customer service was zero help and claimed because it isn't captured this can happen. Sig customer service as a whole is pretty crappy and I've heard multiple times their finish is very thin. Idk about the legion series though only their run of the mill guns.

My experience with Sig’s customer service was awful

Yeah two times I dealt with sig it was awful. Friend had an issue with a p320 and his experience was also awful. Seems to be a repeating theme. I don't think they care about civilians myself lol

The way they handled the P329 debacle (fixing the military submission for it's drop safety issue before even alerting the public) should make it clear they don't care.

Yeah that is true. My buddy had an issue with an extractor on p320. Sig claimed it was his ammo. He replaced the extractor and gun ran fine after that. Similar response that sig gave me. Nothing is wrong with the gun but if you insist you can pay to ship to our gunsmith and pay our gunsmiths rate to examine your firearm.

Thank the shooting gods I haven't had to deal with Sig. I carry a regular two toned 938 inside the Gates alot. It carries well and So Far no malfs.

I have two non Legion 938's and love them. Easy to carry. Great point and shoot. The 2nd I picked up the is a safe gun. There is a problem with the mag release to me on it. On some of the early models the mag catch was not long enough and some had issues with the mags not holding well. My original does not have an issue. Pondered getting a new mag catch of filling down the original some on the 2nd. It works you just have to smack it home.
