This may be a dumb question but is the Sig MPX-K considered a Class III weapon by the ATF? I've had the 8" barreled version of the MPX but since the MPX-K has the 4.5" barrel and collapsible stock I was curious if they considered it a NFA weapon and requires the tax stamp.

No, it is a pistol since it has a pistol brace.

If it has a brace that is “designed” to attach to your arm, then it’s not a stock and therefore a pistol. This is the route many mfgs are going these days given the many brace options that are available.

Ok, thought since the total length was under 26" with the brace that it was considered one...thanks for the clarification!
 
If you added a VFG, and it was under 26” OAL (and brace doesn’t count in the measurement), you have an AOW...but not an SBR.
