I have a mid-90s P228 that I purchased new from Lawmen's in Raleigh. Love the gun, shoots really nicely, but the trigger is awful. It has been living in the safe for a while, but I've decided to show it some love again. I'm going to install a Grayguns ELT trigger and spring set, and I'm looking at grip options. I like the G10 grips that come on the Legion guns, so I'm looking at the Hogues. I also like the E2 grips that come on the newer Sig P guns. My question for you is, will the E2 grip kit from Sig fit an older P228? I see some posts that say that you have to change out the strut and mainspring, and I've seen photos of a couple of different configurations for the P228. Anyone here ever installed the E2s on a P228?

The E2 grip can fit the P228 but you need to make sure you get the full kit that comes with the E2 grip One-piece E2 grip Installation/removal tool, Hammer seat, Hammer strut & Decocking lever. The mainspring itself can be reused but I recommend getting a reduced hammer spring kit from Wolf and going down as low as you can without getting light hammer strikes. Most of the time that is the 17lb or 18lb. I have never gotten a 16lb to work 100%.
