* Cameo from James @ TFB.TV
* Suppressor division is behind enemy lines, CA
* @3min cleaning with fancy detergent for welding prep
* "fancy dishwasher"
* laser welding requires it
* Every step logs more than the Germans
* @ 5:30 heat treating is in house
* has small stockpile of parts/rolling inventory for emergency requests
* 6 to 18 axis CNC machines
* @7:20 automated deburr and parts transfer for consistency
* @10:15 laser weld
* @12 ish, talks about how they track everything and issue serial numbers
* RFID tags used
* gets them in batches
* tracks each step all the way to shipping
* heat treating, tolerance, any changes, who did what, time
* Stainless in the mount and end cap, inconel everywhere else
* Done for cost
* Al parts are almost completely unmanned
* Inconel parts have operators to check parts, tool wear, offsets
* tube pressed and welded
* @18 Wire edm to true the bore to a reference mount
* EDM water is tap into multiple filters at the machines
* slowest part of the operation, 5-10 min operation depending on the can
* only complete, sealed suppressors get it
* 22:18 robotic bead blast/cerakoating
* can't paint wet over dry cerakote or it'll wrinkle/flake
* Most raw materials are from the US
* all manuf. and assembly is done in the US
* Chatting about the moount backwards compatability
* @29:55 Every single suppressor is tested for accuracy and POI shift, recorded
* every suppressor that failed spec fails within the first 2 rounds
* @32 random sample weld check, cuts thin slice to check on porosity, other weld problems
* @35 shows off shooting platform
* action clamped into a lathe carriage bolted to a bench
* black hills 77 otm
* saves unsuppressed and suppressed shot to the record
* takes lead abatement seariously
* air handler to remove smoke
* Using Bat action

* @43:30
* over 90k rounds in chart, ~30k suppressors, ~2.5 yrs
* avg .57" group size
* avg POI .4"
* @45 shows off acoustic target
* bullet deflector to protect burm sicne they were digging through it
* 8 sensors
* @48:15 testing sound demo
* 6" from left of ear
* 1m left and right of muzzle
* tested over sod and dirt, got same measurement
* explained because they were measuring peak only
* Most Surefire customers report flash suppression is really important so they focus on that first
* other factors obviously important
* Hasn't tested any flash hider that out performs their SF3P
* @52:40 QC process
* customer sends in
* verify problem
* check QC
* recore/repair/replace if needed
* Low percentage of issues, most common are strikes from alignmentor attachment issues
* uses surefire alignment rod, ground concentric rod
* shoot for middle 1/3 of center
* Rod check
* if it seems close to one side, rotate rod in barrel 180 degrees and if it's the rod then it'll be close to the other side
* much better than roling across a non reference granite table
* Oddest RMA, can fell off helicopter mounted gun. Still worked fine but was beat up
* intentinal fail safe baffle design, if you strike the baffle it'll allow the bullet to continue through the baffles without deflecting through the tube
* @1hr fancy b roll
* packaging time
* sticker from RFID tag placed on box to seal it
* @1hr4m surefire suppressor origin story

I wonder how many tens of millions they have just in equipment cost? Cool video, thanks for sharing. Might look into them for my next suppressor.

That's a cool vid, but wait a minute, isn't having a muffler a felony in CA?!?
Why is Surefire paying astronomical taxes to help .gov suppress their employee's rights. They're also making sure none of their employees can have what they work on every day.

because they cater to MIL/LEO
They're exempt and probably get some tax credits for feeding the police.
