Has anyone had this procedure done? They numb then inject the turbinate, then run a radio frequency bulb over the area that causes it shrink the turbinate (cauterization)from the inside out.

That sounds like a microwave oven generator within your sinuses.
If you were in the Ral/Cary area I'd say get a second opinion w/Gupta. He did a great job, I've never been able to breath so well, the prev surgeon 12 years ago sucked, screwed up and lied.

Well, I'm not one to thumb my nose at new procedures, but hey, if it works go for it.

I've got one of the best ENT's in NC. He did the turbinate resection about 4 years ago. This is not a new procedure and is supposed to work really well. The newer version is a laser version. I'm just wondering how bad it hurts and how long the swelling takes to come down.

Just stick your thumb up your......oops never mind.

I just heard my ins is going to cover 100% of Latera inserts to fix valve collapse after Christmas.

Very cool man. My Dr. said that the older men get our noses never stop growing. Because of that we are prone to structural and internal issues. Mine is internal.
Good luck with your surgery man! Mine is just a copay so I can't really complain.

Thanks, it'll only make a difference when I lay down, I should sleep better.
I had a second nasal surgery this year, I've spent my max out of pocket, so we're going to try this as well.
The first JackWang did a POS job 12 years ago.
Good luck & enjoy breathing!

I had the turbinate resection about 4 years ago. It was amazing but the doctor did tell me that it was possible that I would have to have it touched up in 5 or so years. Well I can't help that but you know being a mouth breather kind of sucks and the headaches are the worst.

There's a guy I know from ham radio who is getting ready to have a more extreme edition done, where they're going to break his nose, peel his face back, enlarge and work on the sinus entryways and then put him back together.

That sounds horrible.

I thought so too, but apparently the breathing problems and perpetual infections have created enough of a quality of life issue that he's going to do it.

Thankfully, he'll be anesthetized during the event.

I had the turbinate resection where the remove part of the bone to make a Channel and then they burn the turbinate and pack your nose about 5 years ago. It wasn't bad at all. The worst part was not being able to breath through my nose. I have a defined issue of anxiety when yoh have lots of drainage I can't remember what it's called but after the first surgery it went completely away.

Can you give me the name of the ENT? My wife is having a terrible problem with her sinus's, with blood clotting when she blows her nose, her eyes swollen, and eye socket pain, etc. His given her 3 different nose sprays with negative results. Another opinion is in order now since this has gone on for weeks.

Dr. Thomas Warren of lake Norman ENT at exit 33 in Mooresville. I would call now he stays booked out at least a month at a time. He is honestly a great person and Dr. my visit before today we talked for 20 minutes about how there is no way that anything but god could create such a complex system as the human body. He is a great Dr and realizes that every thing is there for a reason and believes in minimal changes when possible. He has a great personality as well. His big joke is I went to school to pick boogers and i love it. Your wife would be in great hands!

Thanks, at this point we will try to get an appointment since she's getting nowhere with the guy she's seeing now.

I know a lady that works for a different doctor I his practice. She said I would not go to my doctor because Dr Warren is one of the best in the state. I wish I had the opportunity to work with him. I was sold on him at that very moment and two months later I had my first visit with him. Dr warren took his time look at everything and really made me comfortable with what his recommendations to treat were. I would get a copy of your wife's current file and take it with you.
