Since the new ruling I need to reconfigure the rifle I built for my daughter last year. It currently has an 11 inch barrel. Until things get back to normal, if they ever will, I suppose I need to replace it with a 16 inch barrel but want to keep the weight down for her. Any suggestions and experience with a light weight barrel that will shoot factory loads? What twist rate? 55 grain or 62 grain. I currently have some federal fusion 62 grain. So a plus if it will shoot that good. Thanks

Yes pencil is what I’m looking for, I just wanted recommendations on specific barrels.

Thanks @1075tech. The Faxon barrel may be the ticket.

They do have a straight pencil profile. The link is is for their "gunner" which is a combination of pencil and gov't profile.

I have the Faxon pencil on a lightweight rifle. It's a decent shooter.

I have a 14.5” midlength Faxon gunner. It’s sublime for my use.
It’s on a carbine that weighs 6.5 lbs, and that is with a LPVO on a mount.

They also make this barrel with an integrated muzzle device, so it’s effectively a 14” barrel but with a 16” overall length. Can get with flash hider or muzzle brake.

Might be a good solution for your application.

Another 2” isn’t going to matter that much from 14 to 16 to 18 since I’m going from 11”. Good thought though. I appreciate it
