Smith wesson model 69 l frame 44 magnum

I noticed the thumb release was more loose than normal. Removed it and noticed the bolt has broken right at the thumb stud. Can I just replace the bolt or does it need to be fitted by a gun smith. It would be repaired under warranty because it is new but If I can repair it myself I would like to.

Yep after thinking it over it reallly never seemed right out of the box. I like to fix and learn but Smith wesson really needs to look at it.

Easy to fix yourself. Buy the part (s) you need from Numrich. Warranty will get it free but will take a while

I had a model 69, the key lock mechanism was re-engineered from previous versions and was the reason I said send it back. Plenty of possible failures besides the obvious and hopefully an experienced repairman will know the fixes. Good luck.
