Typical boot socks are too thick and too hot when I’m wearing Rothco boot and such. Who makes a quality sock that’s light, cool, but still a rugged boot sock?

Find some merino wool hikers. I like midweight, because it has a bit more cushion than lightweights.

I wear wool socks year-round. My feet stay comfortable and really never get hot or cold.

Quality merino wool socks will not be cheap. I’ll cut corners where I can…all about saving some money, but I will not skimp on taking care of my feet…

Neglect them and it will mess your world up…royally.

I wear nothing but these. Tennis shoes or boots. Love them.

This is truth. Wool year round

If you want Thin go with Darn Tough. Thinnest hiking socks I’ve ever worn.

Thorlo and Smartwool make great stuff too but stick with their mid weight offerings.

Agree with this as well, wool socks are the way to go

I've got like 7 pairs of Swiftwick. Absolutely love them. But $17 a pair... I wear them under my fishing shoes, boots, Solomon's, and my Altama maritimes. Anytime I may get my feet wet, they are amazing. They have a .mil contract spec that's the One (numbers represent the height) that has no side logo. I like the Ones and the Fours. I've got Zero, One, Four, Seven.

I've worn Darn Tough socks exclusively for 12 years now. I still have every single pair of socks and have NOT worn any out yet! They make a wide array of socks including some in more benign colors:

For anytime of the year when the temps are above 50F my go to boot sock is the T4018 which is lightweight with no cushion. To me there is a big difference going from cushion (T3001) to full cushion(T4022) . Full cushion is extremely well padded while cushion is just abouit right if you want just a touch of padding for longer or multi-day hikes.

Can't wear wool. The thought of wearing wool makes my skin crawl. I used to wear thin wicking socks under cotton rag socks that looked like wool for hiking 50 years ago. Lots of modern alternatives now. If you can wear wool next to bare skin then more power to you. The horror. The horror.

Thorlo (good NC company) makes 3 different thicknesses of socks and you can search their site by gender, size and thickness. Can't recommend them enough. That is all I wear and have all kinds of problems with my feet.
Last I remembered, there was an outlet in Statesville. Their socks are very expensive but they sell 2nds at that shop and they're usually half off or so.

I don't get along with wool against my skin. I use a breathable compression calf high sock year round, if I'm going to be out in the cold, I will use a pair of wool sock over them.

Covert Threads. They make the only sock that I’ll wear. I’ve been wearing them for over 15 years and have some that I still wear that are that old! The are light, comfortable, warm enough in winter, cool enough in summer. Great socks! Made in Hickory. But they ain’t cheap!

If it’s a feel thing the DT socks do not feel like any wool socks I’ve ever worn. My running socks feel like the old dress socks. Unless that’s the bell you are talking about. I was thinking they would be rough. Not even close. Even the hiking socks feel like that.

This is what I like for socks

i like feetures socks...durable and comfortable

Is the current 50% sale price the everyday price?

No…add a pair to your cart and it will show you the price with the 50% off. I buy them when sales like this are on, more bang for your bucks

Ya I know, I'm just curious if this is one of those companies that always has a 50% off sale or if it's actually a real sale.

Cool. I'd like to try some of their running socks.
I can’t attest to those but I wear their socks to work and they are comfortable. Like I said I buy them when they are on sale but I am typically a cheap bastard anyway …just ask my wife
