In a historic vein, check out the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate, Ypres Belgium. The ceremony has been conducted, with variations, since 1928 nearly -every -single -night. There were only interruptions during WW2 but the ceremony was still carried out in Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, England. On Sept 6. 1944, the ceremony resumed at the Menin Gate even with heavy fighting still happening in other parts of the town. The general format is the Last Post by the buglers of the Last Post Association, followed by a reading of "They Shall Not Grow Old" and then a lone piper playing a lament, most often Flowers of the Forrest.
