I mean, songs or works for which one part is awesome but another drives you nuts (or just seems disjointed or incongruous). I can think of two examples to lead off:

#1 All Night Long by Rainbow. The opening riff (and chorus) and lead are great. The verses, though, drive me nuts (and I generally like Graham Bonnet's vocals). So in effect, the transition @:35 (to me) is WTF!?

#2 Behind Blue Eyes by The Who. The acoustic to electric transition @2:18 I've always found jarring in the context, albeit not bad in itself.

I suppose another way to interpret the thread title would be songs that strike one emotionally in very different ways.

Love that Who song as is. Does prog rock (Rush, Floyd, ELP, Supertramp, etc) bother you?
I find a lot of the blues type music I listen to breaks into rapid repetitive guitar solo ~3/4 of the way through. It’s as if they didn’t know the song is over. It’s nails on a chalk board to my wife.

I've lIked Rush and Floyd since the mid-70's. I don't think the question is whether any "break" is objectionable, but - for me let me emphasize - that particular one in Behind Blue Eyes is jarring.

I get it. There’s A LOT of music that I find jarring.
And rap isn’t music.

It doesn't bother me, but it's kinda obvious the different parts of the song don't really "go" together. Always wondered what that was all about, till I heard/read that it's a mashup of a couple incomplete song ideas.

I love Behind Blue Eyes, and LOVE that transition from accoustic to electric, and love most everything Pete Townshend did.
I had that release when it was brand new.

Pretty sure this qualifies...

i really enjoy AND hate this song at alternating times

I'm bipolar about AC/DC. Used to love their music, but the twice I saw them live, I couldn't wait for the show to end. I've actually gotten to where I'll change the station when one of their songs comes on the radio. I dunno why. I don't dislike them at all, just can't stand to listen to them anymore.

Pink Floyd's Time is one of my favorite songs. The last part of the song just doesn't match up to the rest of the song though IMO. This part:

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

@Get Off My Lawn and @fieldgrade

I have an example of a song that has an acoustic to electric transition that I find much more seamless (or less jarring) compared to Behind Blue Eyes: Suite Madame Blue by Styx @1:45 and then again @3:20-3:45 into that epic lead ~ 4:10. The inclusion of 'blue' in the titles of both is a curious coincidence.
