My niece's husband (Billy) has an aunt and she and her husband are corporate lawyers. Money drips out the pores of their skin. They are big in local charities and raise a lot of money for them. Three weeks ago, Billy asked me if I wanted to shoot in a sporting clays tournament. The only time I ever shot any clay pigeons was about 40 years ago, in a pasture, with a hand held thrower, while drinking beer. I told him that I wasn't interested.

He said his aunt had bought entries for 3 four man teams and he needed to fill the slots and it was free. The cost to enter a four man team was $850. I told Billy that I only had a Timmy Tactical shotgun and I only had slug and buckshot ammo. Billy said he had 4 shotguns that I could choose from and he had plenty of ammo. I gave in. I told him that I'd buy the ammo and borrow a gun. I found some 12 ga target ammo at Walmart. So, Billy loaned me a Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus.

We had a ball! I wasn't the worst one there and certainly no where near the top but, I didn't embarrass myself too bad. I saw some guys struggling worse than me and, of course, I saw the old guys with their O/U shotguns that never missed. Would I do it again? Yes, in a minute! Will I buy a shotgun and start shooting clays? Ain't no way.

Another friend sent me a picture he took of me when I was slaying those clay zombies. If you didn't know me, you'd think I knew what I was doing.

BTW-I was sporting a Battery Oaks hat while shooting today.

Im the same way. but i have a lot of fun even if the birdies are safe from me.

I only hit around seventy out of a hundred but I still have fun shooting. I haven’t shot since before the great flu hit. Need to get out and shoot again.
