For the past several years I have been a 1911 carry guy and I have decided to pull my xdm (4.5”) out of the safe for carry. This pistol up until this point was simply a range toy/ bedside table gun. Personally I believe with the economy trending the way it is, more ammo in the magazine the better. What I need to know is, if you have and carry this pistol what holster do you use. I am interested in something owb.

I also use a chiefjason leather holster when I carry my 3.8 compact owb, which is mostly in cold weather when I am wearing bulkier cover (sweater, coat, etc).

This isn’t really XDm specific, almost any holster maker is going to have one for all of the common polymer pistols (Glock, M&P, XD/m, 320, etc).

I’m a fan of kydex holsters and have had excellent luck with those found on eBay and Amazon that get good reviews. So no specific recommendation.

Another fan of Kydex here. I have both a high quality big name leather holster and an OWB kydex concealment holster for my Wilson Beretta, and I'm faster on a timer with the kydex. The leather just grabs a little tighter and drags a bit more, which is great for retention...but it drags on the timer too. I'm not a fast guy in the first place, so picking up half a second or so on the draw is a big deal.

I used a crossbreed until I changed pistols then went with a cheifjasons hybrid iwb Night and day difference in comfort.
