Anyone else use this stuff? Started using it in my AR and it works like a dream. It actually stays where it is supposed to (and you can make it thicker or thinner).

I use it on my pistols now too. Smells just like Autozone.

TLDW - It’s Mobil 1 synthetic grease and Mobil 1 synthetic oil mixed together.

I have a 4 ounce bottle I haven’t even gone through yet. I have a pint container and stuff to make more. It breaks down over long periods of time and can become acidic. So don’t want to store guns long term with it or keep a batch for years.

i am often amazed by how much thought and expense goes into this topic. It’s lube, not rocket surgery. And it’s completely consumable. There is no magic elixir.

I grab whatever spray CLP is handy, hose things down, then wipe off the excess and rock on.

The issue is that people spend outrageous amounts of money on “lube made for guns” that is (I’m sure) made specifically to need to be reapplied often so you keep buying more.

Every lube I have ever used that was marketed as gun lube, blows out of the AR within a few magazines.

I have heavily lubed mine with hoppes before a match only to find it bone dry after the match. This stuff stays on and is way way cheaper by volume.

It seems like he’s got enough Sriracha Lube on those guns that everyone in his zip code will be covered when he fires them. 😳
Bbbbbut it wont! Because it stays in the gun!

Sriacha Lube, I hear it's hot stuff.

I used to grab whatever, until Iet the owner of FP-10 at a 3-Gun match. He gave me a couple of bottles and at first I liked it. But, guns I put it on and left in the safe for month or longer got gummy after the carrier evaporated. I then started paying attention, specifically how they acted over the long term. I personally settled on TW-25 grease. It's expensive, but I use it sparingly and a little goes a long way. When it drys over extended time, it leaves a dry lube film and never gummy.

Yeah this stuff doesn’t dry. It is for guns that are used regularly. The guns I use it in I shoot nearly every weekend. I would not use it on any rarely used guns.

Goes hand in hand with “if im going to shoot hundreds or 1000 rounds before cleaning, I want the lube to stay on the gun.”

Different lubes for different jobs? 😂

Hmmm, I might try that in a 2oz dropper bottle. I’ve been using synthetic motor oil (10w30 or 5w20, can’t remember) with zero issues, but something that stays out a little more without being a full on grease might be good.

This also reminds me, I think I have enough of the Lucas oil sample packs that I should just squeeze them all out into a dropper bottle haha.

I suppose I’m in the minority here but this is just NUTS! Anyone who claims to be a “gunsmith” and advocates this much lube on an AR or ANY firearm well….I think I’ll pass.

I don't think anyone (aside from the guy in the video) is advocating bathing the rifle in this stuff. I just know that, when applied appropriately, it is leaps and bounds better and stays in the gun longer than any traditional "gun lube."

I’ve used a thin layer of mobile 1 grease followed by a couple dots of synthetic oil.
Mostly trying to use stuff up.

I've tried CLP, and a mix of transmission oil and another ingredient I can't remember.
At this point I used Springco Machine Gunners Lube when I need a wet lubricant, and high temp moly-graphite grease everywhere else. CLP and other oils have been relegated to surface protection.

I'm not sure about the utility of the grease, especially if you're using a ton of it, besides smelling bad.

Only certain guns require grease? Garand and M14 come to mind.

Royal Purple always used to brag about leaving a film longer than others. Only reason I thought about it...

Yeah the only reason for the grease is to keep the lube on the gun longer. Never tried straight purple.

Probably worthwhile to try to find a list of ALL ingredients in these ingredients. I believe most chemicals like this have some sort of "safety data sheet" type thing that has all that, as well as physical properties.

I know Mobil 1 has more "detergents" in it, so it might also do a good job as a cleaner and keeping crud in suspension, but does that make it bad for plastics or wood?

I know Royal Purple contains moly, which was in vogue in the gun world for awhile, but what about now? Also, other ingredients might be bad for plastic/wood.

Also I noticed while looking some stuff up there are people using automatic transmission fluid? Besides staining things red I thought this was a fairly harsh chemical... doesnt seem like a good idea.

This was a good idea for a thread but needs more SCIENCE.

ATF is a light weight oil with a lot of detergents in it.

I use Lucas oil marine grease for metal on metal and light oil for everything else. A tube of marine grease runs you about 10 bucks and should last you a long time.
