.CONFESSIONS OF AN ADDICT....................PART ONE...………
Years ago, when I was a lot younger & naïve, I used to visit the local gun shop to "ogle" all the nice firearms I wanted to buy & add to my small collection. There were always a few "tough characters" hanging around the store , seemingly just killing time instead of buying anything. One day, one of them engaged me in what I thought was harmless "small talk". After learning from me that I do indeed own & shoot firearms, I was asked (with a sly look) "Do You Reload?"............. After mumbling an embarrassing "no" my life took a drastic turn!
............... "Just try it once!" .........".It's a real "kick"!.....I heard...………..
Being young & gullible, I did. The results were terrifying! , I was "hooked".................I never suspected this guy was a "Dealer"! ............
Beware folks, "RELOADING " is VERY addictive, even in it's simplest form!
After telling my concerned friends where my life was heading, one suggested I try "a little bullet casting", You know, to wean myself away from the worst of the effects of the addiction.................The dirty alloys & terrible smells will set me straight, & I'll give it all up "cold turkey".
(On reflection, I find it strange that people claiming they want to help you always have that "sly look" on their face.........)
........................NO HELP THERE!..........things just kept getting worse..............
.....Soon, odd behaviors were noted, hoarding powders, lead supplies, Primers & such..............even buying books that keep you "dependent" , instead of saving you from this insidious nightmare!....................
I even started collecting odd paraphernalia related to the use of these "drugs!"..............
At present, I have various bullet moulds from a variety of "suppliers",...…... dealers who nefariously make big bucks off of my addiction...... Presses, Lubersizers, powder measures followed in a short time & I realize now , (too late!) , I'll die an addict of over forty five plus years , with no hope of ever becoming "clean again"................ Sad, too, as I only have a few decades left before I go....................................
Alas, No more secret meetings with friends at coffee shops & MacDonalds, or hanging around gun shows with fellow addicts.....................I'm too far gone to recover & resign myself to my fate of a life filled with reloading, bullet casting & shooting.................
