Suicide in a gun store in Washington State

Happened a few times at both indoor ranges I used to frequent back in CA, only with rentals. One eventually changed the policy so that you could only rent a gun if you had someone else with you. Even having your own gun wasn't good enough to let you rent, which was odd. The other stopped rentals all together.
I think this happened at JIMS as well once or twice

I was involved in only one of these. My friend was a Doctor, his brothers were a retired Naval Commander and a head of a Federal Savings and Loan...they all shot themselves. They were all raised in an orphanage, all 3 successful, all 3 hell bent on suicide. My Pard did his deed with one of my guns that he had for over a year.
Nobody gets over your Mother giving you away....even if it is the depression and your Daddy got killed in a car wreck. All their friends I met from the orphanage were successful in business or whatever they decided to do. I always thought it was "telling" that my Pard killed himself on Mother's Day.....................................................1982..........he was a pitiful sight sitting in that chair.....
I'm so sorry you had to see your friend like that.
And I agree 100%....nobody gets over being given away by their mother. It is something that has been with me forever.

Damn, I didn't see this comment early. Sorry Billy...

I get to hear EMS calls on the scanner at work, and sometimes there's a suicide call. Most are really tragic, but one was actually kinda funny in a dark way.

Fellow calls 911, reports that his daddy has killed himself. "Send the coroner, not an ambulance. He's too far gone" an exact quote from the son. 911 operator tries several times to get the son to go attempt aid, but he keeps refusing "he's too far gone, he's already dead" etc.

Ambulance shows up on scene, and the paramedic comes over the radio after they found the dad. "He's conscious and talking, said he got drunk after his dog died and tried to shoot himself". It ended up being a nasty grazing wound to the head, but not life threatening.

A few years ago, a coworker of mine committed suicide. Like so many here, none of us had any idea that he was troubled. Life seemed to be going well for him. He had a job he appeared to enjoy, he'd just bought a house, he was only a few months married, and had a baby on the way. By all accounts he had a great relationship with his parents and brothers too.

According to his wife, he came home from work one day, and broke down crying. She asked him if he wanted to talk about what was bothering him. He shook his head no. The wife sat with him a while, then went to go use the bathroom. While she was in the bathroom, she heard the gunshot. Totally out of the blue. Nobody suspected anything.

My grand father in 1980 ( I believe it was) got pissed ass drunk, took a 410 to the bottom of the chest in front of my Mother, Uncle and grand mother. Never met my Grandparents on my mom side. 1986 my Grandmother would loose her battle with breast cancer.

We had a neighbor when I lived at my parents. 30ish years old wife and kid. Got divorce, wife took daughter. He started using. Tried starting a few businesses but failed. Went to his dad's one day that he had a bad relationship with. Called dad to meet him at his car in the driveway. As his dad walked out to the car, he shot himself in the head with his dad watching. That's one way to stick it to a parent you don't like.

Yeah, that left a mark on him, some of the others that worked there. I was off that day.
I had a buddy who told me their policy on that sort of thing - do everything you can to keep their heart beating until the ambulance gets them off the property. it's better for their insurance that way.
i guess it was pretty common back up in the metro detroit area, and they were getting a little desensitized to it.

That guys heart wasn't beating anymore, nailed himself mid-chest with a 45 Golden Sabre, it worked. DRT.

This might be the 2nd most depressing thread ever in the history of thread world and that's only because someone hasn't invented the first one yet.
All I can offer is this-

You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychiatrists office.
