I never knew that a daddy long leg was capable of ripping the tail off a lizard and eating it!
Or have they already eaten the body!
Two of them going to town on my back porch tonight.

Maybe those are just the babies. Find the mama. 😁

Long ago I was told that daddy long legs are one of the most venomous spiders in NA, but that they carry a tiny amount and their mouth doesn’t open in a way that would allow them to bite a human. No idea if true.

I heard the same, but, like you, no clue to the validity of that statement.

Urban legend. Mythbusters did a segment on this and one of them actually put his arm in a tank of daddy long leg spiders. He received several bites with minimal reaction.

This was not what was expected. Super gruesome has different levels/interpretations.
That say, Ive never seen one eat, that's neat

lizards drop their tails for all kinds of reasons, mostly defensive... spiders coulda found it detached. It's where the lizards store food, so it is a windfall.

Yeah, but two next to each other? I figure maybe the cat provided them and the spiders scavenged, but for the kids I’m still saying that they ate the lizards down to the tails.

Ive heard they hunt in packs and grow up to be tarantulas😁
