Superman Syndrome

DC has a high concentration of "people" who believe their time is of greater value than the lives of those around them. And they drive that way.
Often with diplomatic plates...I had one speed up and deliberately try to take me out one day as I was turning.

I have to turn left on the way home from work to get to my driveway. 4 lane street with open center turning lane. 100’ before my turn is the second entrance to the hs on the right. With a light.

That road was nutty 20 years ago. Pre Walmart. It's only gotten worse since then. Darn college kids.

I'll never understand how people can be so stupid to mess around with OTR trucks. Whether I'm on my motorcycle, in my Jeep, or any other vehicle, I stay away from trucks. If I'm in the right lane I let them pass. If I'm in the left lane and a tractor is in the right lane, I stay in front.

Basically I stay away from them. Some people don't understand how heavy and deadly OTR trucks can be vs. a normal passenger vehicle.
Pulling a heavy trailer gives you a new perspective. Sadly, I doubt even some edumacation would help most of the idiots.

Last night there was this jerkass blocking the left lane of I40/85 going just over the posted speed. When it got to a big open section I went to the 3rd lane to get around him. Damn if I wasn’t going 85 by the time I did pass with him trying to keep up and prevent it. Got back in to the left and slowed down to still more than said jerkass has been doing. After a little while, apparently not being able to impede traffic pissed them off to where they wanted to pass on the right; not happening buddy, yes I can be a jerk too. They ended up going farther to the right and taking off at better than 90 mph. Keep in mind they wanted to go slow when they could hold up traffic. A few minutes later, a friend on the ham radio said something about a jerkass flying by them at over 90 mph.

It boggles the mind. People will let a VW Beetle go by with more room and then pull right out in front of a big truck. Stupid, stupid stupid.

Not that long ago a lady rolled a stop sign in front of one of my drivers. He was doing the posted speed limit of 35. Only 35 miles an hour. He locked the truck up trying to stop but Tboned her right on the driver side door and pushed her little car another 30 ft or so before coming to a stop.

Last I heard she was still paralyzed from the waist down, and for what? Do not pull out in front of big trucks. Big trucks can literally crush a car like a beer can if you're between them and something else.

Dude it's getting so bad out there. My son is 15. Teaching him to drive is giving us BOTH lessons. I had one guy pulling moves similar what @Tailhunter said. School zone, rural area two lane yada yada yada. When the road split to a four lane and the light caught him I was mentally weighing the legal cost of a misdemeanor if we both ended up there side by side. People suck.

Not arguing, and especially wasn’t arguing with you, just responding to, and generally agreeing with, Catfish’s post.

That said, you aren’t entirely wrong. Grew up with 4 brothers and often spend my days fighting over legal minutia...it’ll warp a guy.
no no no I always thought the correct answer to "you could argue with a fence post" was "I AM arguing with a fence post"

Hopefully your guys had a dash camera or at least witnesses.

Witnesses. No legal ramifications but it still sucks.
Yes it does. I recall one incident near where I grew up. The highway was at a standstill but there was a hump in it such that the oncoming traffic had no way to know. A big truck carrying a load of rock crested the hill and ran right over a woman in a Honda Civic at the posted speed. Peeled the top of the car right off and decapitated her in the process.

I've had conversations about stupid stuff you see on the road and keep thinking its time to get a camera just so you can prove it was their fault and nothing you could have done to avoid it, after a few close calls. Historically it was always assumed you were at fault for not leaving enough space if you hit someone from behind. These days, they just cut right in leaving inches and hit the brakes.

One that irritates me is the guy who constantly hits the brakes going down the road. Invariably they're tailgating.

Situational awareness and the awareness that other people don't have it.

Anytime I see traffic coming to a standstill I pump my brakes repeatedly to get the attention of the guy behind me. Heads up dumbass the interstate is going from 65 to zero.

If I have to come to a complete stop and I can see there is a natural block like a hill that might have someone not be able to see until they crest the hill at 55 mph I will get the hell out of my car and road flare the top of the hill. I've only had that happen once but nobody else got hurt.

It goes back to that personal bubble and 80% of drivers.

Earlier this morning I was sitting at a traffic light waiting to turn left. I saw a Go Triangle bus approach the intersection, the light turned yellow then red and the bus didn't even slow down. Entered the intersection on red and ran right through the light. I sent an email to the organization, using my work email as I was on a work trip, along with my contact information, giving them a description of the event along with a time, location, and bus number. We shall see if anything becomes of it.

Anytime I'm in a work vehicle, I'm extra cautious and extra courteous.
